Hard work pays

I went to a university full of stress and hardship; studying seemed very difficult, not that processing what was thought in the lecture room in your head was difficult, but the school environment and academic situation in the country was something else.

Going to lectures, sitting conducive in the lecture halls, being able to pay attention in class because of rowdiness due to the student overpopulation, and the way Nigerian lecturers will treat you, all these factors combined will make you get tired of schooling in Nigeria.

These factors, at the same time, affect students' academic performance. Personally, my performance was highly affected as I was struggling to make good grades. Manageably, I graduated with a Second Class Lower, and I was not pleased, though that was what, during my own time of schooling, most people would graduate with, only the minority graduates with a better class of degree.

After my graduation, I decided to go for my master's degree, and I vouched that I'll be doing it differently, aiming to graduate with a degree that qualifies me directly for my Ph.D.

It was a degree program that came with more respect, unlike the way we were treated during our undergraduate days. They treated us like adults, with more respect.

I planned to put more effort so that I could get a good result.

Because I knew I had the potential to perform excellently, I set a target for myself, graduating with a 4.5 CGPA. Why can't I get it others can and that goal settles it all👍

I studied extra hard and went into research that went far beyond what was being taught in the classes and materials given by the lecturers in another school who were doing the same course of study.

With all these, I felt like I knew everything, I worked to increase my knowledge through research and a lot of reading other people's work, which made me so vast in knowledge as I knew that for you to excel in a master's degree program, you'll need a lot from what your lecturer gives you, bring up your own ideas.

All these went fine; I had sleepless nights even when it wasn't the examination period, and I would stay awake all through the night during the exam period and only rest for a few hours.

As I was writing my exams, I was confident of a very good performance as I confidently answered all questions that came my way. And finally, when the results came out, they were all perfect. I leaped for joy upon seeing my results and the thoughts of how I did it never stopped coming to my mouth.

Though I didn't attain a CGPA of 4.5, I was close, I made a CGPA of 4.3. I was very happy and said to myself that education is easy if you find yourself in the right environment to study. It was a mission come true!
