Embracing Surrogacy: A Path to Parenthood in the Modern Age

I used to wonder why some couples celebrate 10, 20, 30, or even 40 years of marriage while facing the battle of childlessness, especially when there are numerous options available today. It's important to remember that it is only those who wear the shoes that truly know where they pinch. However, if things like surrogacy were in vogue in those days, nobody would remain childless. Gone are those days!

To be childless is not for the faint-hearted, and I use this opportunity to pray for all the trying-to-conceive (TTC) mothers around the world, may God remember you as He did for Hannah, in Jesus' Name, Amen🙏 You are lucky, if you can get pregnant immediately after you say I DO It has not been easy for some set of people. May God heal their hearts🙏

So, what is surrogacy? Surrogacy is a reproductive arrangement in which a woman agrees to carry and give birth to a child for another person or couple. There are different ways through which surrogacy can be accomplished:

  1. Traditional Surrogacy where the surrogate is also the egg donor.
  2. Gestational Surrogacy where the surrogate carries an embryo created through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
In this case, it is advisable to choose wisely.

Numerous celebrities have shared their journey through surrogacy, providing hope and inspiration to others who may be suffering in silence. For instance, Nancy Umeh recently welcomed her baby daughter, who is now three months old, and she is happily breastfeeding her; oh my God, technology is a life safer👍

Note: That's not her first child, but she decided to opt in for surrogacy due to stories surrounding her pregnancy journey. You can follow her on Facebook for more light. She is the only one who is so real in this surrogacy journey. In this digital age, stories like hers remind us that the era of remaining childless is fading. Others, like Ini Edo and Biola Adebayo, have also embraced this path.

I have a neighbor who chose surrogacy, and while many people are curious about when she became pregnant and gave birth, she remains unbothered by their questions, instead radiating happiness for having a child of her own, thanks to the understanding partner by her side. I couldn't be happier for her🤗🤗 If my bosom friend can also go for surrogacy if not money, it would be better. She needs to be happy!

As for me, would I consider surrogacy? Absolutely! I am a cesarean section (CS) mom to two precious jewels and want more children, two or more. I love babies👌However, I'm scared about experiencing pregnancy and delivery again. Therefore, if I desire more kids, surrogacy seems to be the best option, and I plan to explore it when the time is right. With all the testimonies I've heard and seen, it offers a hopeful solution for anyone longing for the joy of parenthood, thereby eliminating the shadow of childlessness.

But is surrogacy ethical? Yes, it can be, provided that there is a consent form from both parties. It is crucial that both parties do not know each other and that there is no form of familiarity to ensure a respectful arrangement.

Should traditional methods of childbearing be abandoned in favor of surrogacy? No, rather, it should be approached with caution and a commitment to uphold ethical standards. Informed consent must be obtained from all parties involved.

I will continue to advocate for surrogacy because I believe every family deserves to experience the joy of parenthood. Nobody should die in ignorance!

The joy of every marriage is to have children surrounding their table

If there is consent from all parties then the surrogacy is welcome, I also see it as a good alternative for those who do not want to go through the process of taking a child in the belly, either for ethical, religious or health reasons.

If nothing is wrong with you health-wise, why go for surrogacy?
We just need to be serious instead of being unreasonable👌

It feels weird when I see people refuse to adapt to modern solutions due to their perspective of the old ways. The world is evolving, so should we. We shouldn't have to suffer in silence, when there are ways to proffer solution.

I keep wondering too.
I know that so many people wanted this option but they are just financially incapable.

I will keep advocating for surrogacy until everyone sees the light.

Surrogacy is a legal way of conception, as far as it is agreed by both couples... Meanwhile there are other ways of surrogacy...

Let it out, please🙏
In fact, we need someone in the health line to take us further on this topic

I understand this is created to help couples get their baby and all but the gene doesn't lie. I always ask this question

Won't the child have some characteristics from the surrogate?
What if the surrogate decides to keep the baby for herself? Is that kidnapping?

I am not against it but I believe couples having the baby themselves is the best way.

What about couples who cannot have a baby on their own?

The gene? I don't think so, except you picked the first method, in which you allow the surrogate to use her egg.

All I know is, it's better than adoption👌

@princessbusayo

Come and see!
Anyways, I see your point too and I agree with it to some extent. I’m not against it too

@miztajovial just explained some things I don’t know before which has made me understand that the dna comes from the egg and sperm so the carrier of the child doesn’t really matter

Exactly, it does not matter.
I will do this later because I want more kids

No one should die in ignorance oo. Technology has made life easier and nothing like you are barren or just because your health isn’t capable, you remain childless. If surrogacy is your thing, why not? I wouldn’t even bother about those monitoring when I got pregnant and gave birth. I love your point here, too and why you would choose to go for surrogacy.
