A Reflection Filled With Memories, Pain, and Hard Lessons.

Looking at this topic brought so many horrible memories of those who lost their lives as a result of engaging in an abortion. How can I ever forget how abortion took Ify, a girl we left home together to school in 100 level? Ify was 5 months gone when she had the abortion, and she started bleeding. Before the hostel mates would know, she had bled to death, her roommate was able to shed more light on what started the heavy flow of blood.

Nobody could sleep in the hostel for months. The fear of abortion filled the whole place, and everyone became so cautious to make the right decision. This experience taught me to do things right because I can't afford to throw my life away for a mistake I should have avoided. It became a wish never to try that in my lifetime. May God forbid bad thing to happen to us🙏

However, this topic says someone should choose abortion if they are not ready, and whether the father should have a voice in the matter. The truth can be a yes or no, but what I know is that abortion kills faster than anything. So many people choose abortion for many reasons, for instance, when there is no money to take care of the child, when the health of the mother or the child is a big concern, or when the relationship is unstable, and many other reasons. So, making a decision is crucial so that one can be on the safer side.

About the father having a say, I can only say it’s not necessary because the woman carries the pregnancy, she bears the pain, and she knows where the shoe pinches her. It is only natural that the woman takes the final decision that suits her, but that doesn't mean the father should be left out. Note, the responsible father should not be left out in this matter.

Nowadays, the results of abortion have tripled, especially in this digital age, to the point that a mother can take their teenager for an abortion. Abortion should not be encouraged, and at the same time, it should not be condemned. Some people do it for a better purpose while some people do it for fun.

In the end, abortion remains a deeply personal and emotional issue, one that carries consequences far beyond the moment of decision. My experience with Ify will forever remind me that life is fragile, choices are powerful, and every action comes with its weight. Whether someone decides to keep a pregnancy or let it go, the most important thing is to act with wisdom, seek guidance, and consider the long-term impact. No one should make such a decision out of fear, pressure, or ignorance. Let every choice be informed, intentional, and grounded in the value of life. And above all, may we learn to support one another with compassion instead of judgment, because everyone is fighting a battle we may never fully understand.
