Beneficial animals for the garden, Glass Lizard

I have talked and will continue to do so in a section of the blog about animals that are harmful to the garden, but there are also many animals that are beneficial to the garden. These are the predators that help us control pests in the most efficient and clean way possible. Our job will be to attract them and respect them so that they can help us get the best harvests.

The glass lizard is a very beneficial type of reptile for horticulturists, like all reptiles in general. In my area, I'm used to seeing legless lizards. Most people mistake them for snakes, but they're quite easy to spot since their outer ear is quite visible.

These lizards are especially useful if you have a vegetable garden in a humid area, since, unlike geckos or lizards, they prefer to be in the cool air of plants. They eat all kinds of insects, but especially snails and slugs. They also eat grasshoppers, and occasionally they can hunt small rodents.
Although they usually hunt at night, they are quite easy to see during the day as they recharge their energy in the sun. So, if you have some and want to enjoy and observe them, place a large, smooth stone in a sunny area and you'll see how they flock to it.
