Beneficial animals for the garden, Starling

I have talked and will continue to do so in a section of the blog about animals that are harmful to the garden, but there are also many animals that are beneficial to the garden. These are the predators that help us control pests in the most efficient and clean way possible. Our job will be to attract them and respect them so that they can help us get the best harvests.

The starling is a beautiful bird with bright reflections that visits cities in autumn and drives their inhabitants crazy with its deafening song. It is also a bird that works wonders in the air with its congeners to avoid being captured by birds of prey, without much success I must say.

Although starlings are known for these migratory habits, not all of them are migrants and there is usually a sedentary population in many places. Sometimes they are confused with male blackbirds since they are of a similar size. On the other hand, their behavior is very different.

It is a very beneficial bird for the gardener unless you have planted autumn berries. In that case they can be a nightmare since they love forest fruits in autumn. But if that is not the case then you are in luck because most of the time they are great consumers of insects, especially beetles and caterpillars.
