The Snowening, UK Open, Building, BDay Party 1, Kraken, Greenhouse, Squall, Bday Party 2 - Saturday
Well, the sky did it again yesterday morning. I woke around 4:20am and when I got up I was greeted by the view of snow DUMPING outside. It was coming down rather heavy with some pretty fat flakes. The temperature was above freezing by a good bit which was why the snow was so heavy.
The sun came up but it still snowed on and around 7am we had 2 inches built up.
The UK Darts Open was one early as they plowed through the matches on multiple boards. I had it on all morning for the first session and of all the people to advance I was happiest to see Ricky Evans who is playing Rob Cross right now, AND HE WON!!! He is onto the semi-finals! Super cool to see him doing this well!
The storm was plowing over us from the SW which I found interesting that it was as cold and dumped as much snow.
The boys got their recent Crunchlabs box and quickly had it put together. It is an air vortex gun that shoots air blasts at things. I told them it could also be a fart gun...
The boys had a birthday party to go to midday for one of R's classmates. @stryeyz took them and hung out while I was at home. He has taken to the role of cleanup helper at many of the birthday parties as he likes to gather all the torn off wrapping paper.
WE GOT SUNSHINE!!!! It was near 1pm and the clouds broke as the snow was melting off. It didn't last long though and soon the clouds moved back over and greyed out much of the rest of the day.
At noon the Kraken game came on and in the end they ended up losing to the Oilers but not by a landslide so it was an okay game despite the loss. I was able to put both the darts and hockey up at the same time so I could keep track of each.
During the short stint of sun I went to the greenhouse to check on things and was quite enjoying the warmth of it. The sun had bumped the heat a bit but the S9 is plugging along nicely and keeping the heat at a solid level.
SOON... soon we shall have edible sized spinach leaves. Never before have I had greens growing this early in the year.
In the later afternoon it was time to head into town to the next birthday party. As we drove south a solid storm cell moved over the region and DUMPED snow and styro-snow. It was a north-south line that moved over and as we were on the bypass we could see the western edge of the cell.
The road was coated super quick by the styro-snow.
We got to the complex as the snow was stopping.
Super cool place to have a party. Big inflatable building with astro turf inside and sectionable areas. They had the entire place for the party and the kids all got to go crazy running all around the place. Ended up with about 100 people who showed up for their 13th birthdays, (they are twins and were born on leap year). The place is great as it KILLS the sound so no matter how loud the kids were it didn't go echoing around the structure.
On the other end from the party was the batting cages and the boys got to try their hand at swinging a way to big bat but they managed to hit some of the balls.
I got in for a round and managed to make contact with every ball, in a complete shock to myself since I hate baseball and rarely swing a bat at things. The party went well past the 8pm end time and we helped close the place down before heading for home. It was an INSANE sheet of ice outside though and the roads were a sheet of ice for about a mile north until I hit the bypass and it had melted.
It was a bit later than normal as we got home later that we got out to soak.
The UK Darts open is on right now and will finish today. Rapid Ricky Evans goes against Luke Humphries in the semi-final and I really hope Ricky can win. It is nice and sunny today but about 20F as the sun is coming up. Man Utd will be playing City later which will most likely be a blood bath and a huge loss. I'd love to go flying today but will wait for a later day I think. This evening I will build a fire in the pit and grill burgers for dinner.

Did you watch today’s match?
We were beaten as usual
It was a given despite the early Rashford goal. They were just outclassed all match long and since no one would take one for the team and break Haaland's leg he did his thing as normal.
It was freezing and so it snowed heavily but we were expecting Winter to come. I love it when children have fun and I really look forward to watching your children catch some fun.
They have had the most fun jumping on the snow covered trampoline since there isn't quite enough to sled on.
