Picking, Planting Carrots, Barrels, Tree Trimming, Basil, Freeze Dryer Batch 92 Finished, Grilling - Tuesday
Went out to get harvests done first thing yesterday morning and had no squash but a nice amount of tomatoes and some cucs. Then I hiked up the hill to check the traps and found nothing in them and no tracks around. I will keep checking each day for a while.
Mid morning I finally got to the lower garden. First I had to rake it all out after digging all the potatoes.
Then the irrigation lines got strung back out but this time I am not laying out plastic. It is the dry part of the year so there won't be weeds growing thanks to the drip emitters putting the water where I need it.
115 spots of the Napoli seeds went in and I ran out for the last 10 spots which got the Caracas. I am really hoping they manage to grow as they should be ready mid October or so.
Shelob sits in the corner of the window track with her legs touching her web waiting for the jiggle of the bug hitting. Once the sun goes down she is smack in the middle of her web.
I'd been trying to come up with a place to stack the pile of barrels I have. They have gotten to be in the way by the gate and I finally figured out a spot for them. I grabbed a metal rod and used it to haul them 8 at a time.
They all stack quite nicely behind my studio and are well out of the way.
The hawthorn bush along the road needed to be hacked back to keep it from encroaching on the driving path. Stupid insane long sharp thorns.
Walking by the greenhouse I saw a bumblebee trying to find its way out so I caught it and took it outside. Then I saw this dragonfly on one of the lines that I then caught and let outside.
This bumblebee was just chilling on the flower, not eating or lapping at the flower but just hanging out.
It was time to trim the basil back again and boy did I get a healthy load. 10 plants that are growing gave me 3 pounds of basil that is in the cooler.
The freeze dryer finished and it didn't require any extra time.
All 5 trays of shredded potatoes came out perfectly. A bit of dark from not quite long enough blanching but still all good. I have to bag them into mylar today so they don't rehydrate.
For dinner I grilled burgers while @stryeyz grilled the summer squash on the Blackstone.
Out normal time to soak.
This morning I will go check on the traps again after getting harvests done, I started moving things around the yard and will get all the rocks moved out to the wall with the trailer, then clean up the yard.
