Harvests, The Rain That Wasn't, Peas, Man Utd SUCK, Grilling, Spiders - Saturday
The forecast for yesterday was for rain so in the morning I was out getting the harvests done. The squash and cucumbers had a bit each and 4 small tomatoes were ready enough to go in the house. I had to trim a bunch more from the cucumbers as I went through and today they need to be tied again.
The clouds were streaming up from the southwest and with it bringing in all the awful smoke from the infernos in Oregon and California. The air quality was not good all day, sitting in the 170s range. Over the day I kept the doppler up on my monitor and watched as the cells built up into some nice thunderstorms but they all went around us. Over the day it sprinkled lightly once.
The pea plants had a few more pods that were ready to pick as the dried ones are finally easier to find in the dead and dying plants. I shelled them right away and dropped them onto the screen with the others. I now have more than enough for at least 2 rows next year.
Olympics was on all day then Man Utd played Liverpool and got completely destroyed, as per their norm. It was rather sad and I turned it off at half time. I'm not sure it will be worth my time this year to watch their disaster unfold again.
For dinner I grilled t-bone steaks over the coal while @stryeyz cooked the potatoes and squash on the Blackstone.
Out to soak normal time and then out to get birds in.
My coop barn spider has a mate/meal there. He was hanging out in the web while she was back in her corner. I'll be watching for an egg sack to appear.
My tool shed spider is nice and big and moved the web so I don't hit it. It is wild how much the web bows under its weight. Be interesting to see how its web survives the rain we are getting now.
It started raining around 7am this morning and will continue to do so for the next couple hours. Hopefully we keep clouds today otherwise it will be a hot and humid mess this afternoon. I guess it was good that I didn't roll a new bale in to the sheep yet since it would be getting wet.

Do you also like it when it rains in the morning so that you can get to sleep for the whole day?😅😅
The Red devils have been a total mess this season that watching their match isn't interesting anymore. I stopped watching ot paying attention to them after the Ronaldo saga. Hopefully they get their shit together in the future as they are not living up to the standard they've set.
Those steak looks yummy. Hope you don't mind if I want a bite😊
The whole ownership/management fiasco the past years has turned them from top tier to likely relegation. Sad to see such a storied club fall so hard.

Look at how yummy 😋 those cucumbers are looking, my last cucumber farm did so well and I made a lot of money from it, well-done.
The great thing is they are a SUPER easy crop to grow and will produce for a long time. Last year from 2 rows I got almost 1700 cucumbers.
Does a team need to be good to earn a fandom? In a way, I like consultant fans of underdogs more than I like fans of whoever looks like they're on top.
In baseball, I don't understand why anyone is a Yankees fan. Heck, New Yorkers themselves have more than one team to choose from!
It depends on the fan and sport I think. Growing up it was all Giants/49ers as they were the closest teams besides Oakland but after being in Minot and not following sports my fandom died. We moved up here and it was easy to root for the most local teams. Some people get rabid about their fandom, I can take it or leave it.
For soccer I hold them to higher standards though given the INSANE number of feeds to the top tier around the world where the best rise to the top and are paid psychotic amounts. Millions of kids aspire to play for all the top tier teams. There is so much more money backing the soccer teams over most US sports teams too.
