Harvest, Plastic, Garlic Garden Tilling, Tom Turkeys Retrieval, Scooter Build, Darts - Monday
I made it out to the garden once the sun was up and had warmed things a bit yesterday morning. I left the squash to grow some more and grabbed the cucumbers and tomatoes from the greenhouse.
The plastic from the upper garden needed to be dealt with so I drug the length out along the driveway so I could fold up the 80x20 mass of now fragile plastic.
I have a bunch of other plastic that has to get bagged for the garbage that is sitting not far from the folded pile. I've been rather impressed by the fact that I get at least 5 years of use out of the plastic sheeting and it's only 4mil thick.
I spent some of the day working on the scooter. It requires a full tear down to then do the proper build. Wires need to be run, plug up holes, cushion and mount the speed controller, etc.
I had gone to check on pulling a stump from the creek but it is a stuck hunk of wood that is going to HAVE to be cut out with the chainsaw. I was hoping to use the winch to pull it but no luck. So I went back to the garden and got the garlic garden tilled. All the grain needed to be worked into the soil and I need to cover it with black plastic to dissuade the grass from growing.
Our shit head tom turkeys ended up back across the creek so once the boys were home from school we went back over and drug their monster asses back. I had thought is was the 5 again but it was just the two toms. Not really wanting to have to install fence just to keep the asshats close.
Back on the scooter the hinge I had the motor mounted to was not meant for strength. There were plastic bushings and shitty pins holding it together from either side. I pulled the thing apart and rebuilt it way stronger.
I now have a machine bolt running through, no bushings, and the washers hold it all tight. The motor is much tighter on it now but I will still want a much stronger hinge eventually.
I'd been ruminating on the "sport" plug on the speed controller and after a test with a switch decided to actually wire it in. I used the soldering iron to attach the wires and the plug is mounted in the top of the handle bar post. Sport mode seems to give much better low end torque when turned off, when on it has higher top end speed. I'll know more when I put weight on it to try riding.
Got a bit of time at the board in the evening and damn it I'm getting much closer to maxes. Seriously as close as I could get without hitting the max each time. I'm feeling the improvement in my accuracy as time is going by.
Our friend stopped by for a while at dark which put us eating later, my shower later, and soaking later.
Today I get the boys to school, harvest, go to my chiro appointment then my IFS appointment, then work on clean up around the farm, cover garlic garden, work on scooter, move tires, and figure out dinner this evening.
