A Hike and 2 Paragliding Flights, Lesson, Brakes, Weeding, Anniversary Dinner - Monday
After getting the boys to school yesterday morning I headed back up to Inkler's. There were a handful of people there already and I waited for a little bit before getting my gear on my back and began the hike to the top.
25 minutes later I had hiked the mile to the top and was there as the winds were super light and trying gently to blow.
It took a bit for the wind to pickup enough to launch and I was able to get a flight down the ridge on air that felt like a roller coaster, up and down and up and down, little bubbles of lift all along the ridge. When I turned back towards the lz my ground speed almost stopped before I kept the wing moving and managed to make it all the way back to the lz.
I was the test dummy for the air and it was a while before Cosmo showed up and gave us a ride to the top again.
By this time the winds were too strong but I setup anyway as I needed to get my flight in and then head for home.
I setup and waited for a lull to launch in but my wing flew past me and got smacked down on the hill.
I gathered my wing and stood on the hill and waited for a lull again.
I got the wall built with my wing and tried to pull out the one side of my wing.
I didn't see this until I landed but my brake line was twisted in my risers. That was why the side of my wing was acting funny.
You can see the line twisted quite clearly here.
So I launch and get plucked straight up in the air and with the left brake stuck I was about to get pushed back into the trees.
But judicious right brake and lots of leaning forward got me away from the hill.
I got a bump of air that shot me up before I was able to grab my speed bar and put my foot on it. That got me moving forward better but the wing was pulling to the left the whole time.
The winds were quite strong and I made slow progress towards the lz.
I had to keep heavy pressure on the right brake to compensate and then had to use weight shift to get the glider to turn.
I got lined up for the lz and as I came into flare I felt the left brake not move and I had to yank on it to get it to pull and flare.
Then I found the problem as soon as I landed. A VERY good lesson for me to more closely check my lines.
With that I called it good and headed for home to be in time to pickup the boys from school.
I found that my brakes needed adjusting so I hauled the lack out and pulled the wheels off again. It seems that the left side had mostly self-adjusted but the right side had not. I also had the parking brake arm one notch off so it didn't work. The right side I adjusted the spanner and got the wheels back on. It made a huge difference now and the brakes work much better. Today I will pull off the front wheels and look for the grinding.
SO. MANY. WEEDS.
@stryeyz got off work early and we were at Hop Mtn for dinner right about 5pm.
Our 18th #anniversary dinner was really good and the beers were too.
Took some time to sit on the deck and watch the sunset once home.
A sweat bee or hoverfly was super chill and climbed from one of our hands to the other. R let it roam his stankfoot before it flew off.
Another short soak for me, just tired early lately.
Today I have to work on my truck again, mow weeds, boys to and from school, PDC is on this morning, I have work in the greenhouse to do, and I will figure something out for dinner this evening.

man, you have a lot of things done today.
so happy that you can work out on the twisted left brake on your paragliding gear and you can land safely on the ground.
stay safe always.
Is it ever possible for the paraglider to reach the level of the plane?
Also, happy wedding anniversary to you and wifey
May God strengthen your union
In the Himalaya people have flown over 7000 meters. We are limited to 18000 ft in the US and people regularly fly that high.
Surely you have a lot of fun and enjoyable spending in that paradisical and wonderful place. Have a safe paragliding activity. 😊
Happy 18th! Looks like you had a nice dinner.
