Two memorable sights of Moti Daman: the ruins of the Dominican Monastery and the Daman Lighthouse

Greetings of the day,

Small towns situated on the seashore have a distinct identity – the scent of salt in the air, the calmness of an old song as the evening approaches and the untold stories hidden in the streets. Moti Daman is also one such city. As soon as you come here, it seems as if an old book has been opened, on every page of which the fragrance of history is recorded. There are two places in this peaceful city that make time seem to stand still – the ruins of the Dominican Monastery and the Daman Lighthouse.

Both these places not only made my journey special, but also gave me an opportunity to feel the soul of Moti Daman closely.

Passing through the old part of Moti Daman, when you cross the narrow roads and reach this place, first of all a strange peace welcomes you. The greenery spread around and these ruins standing in the middle give the feeling of an ancient mystery from a distance.

It is said that this monastery was once a very important religious and educational center of its time. Here education was given, people were told about Christianity, and many ceremonies were also held. But the ravages of time, natural changes and long-term neglect have left it just a beautiful ruin today.

When I entered, looking at the broken walls and the huge structure standing without a roof, I felt as if I had reached a bygone era. The marks of moss on the walls, the small plants growing on the stones, and the slight smell of the sea coming with the wind – all together give a mysterious beauty to this place.

The most special thing here is that the crowd is very less. If you want, you can sit quietly for hours and just feel the surrounding environment. Sometimes it seems as if even the wind is carrying away with itself the old stories of these walls.

This place is no less than a treasure for those who like photography. The natural light and texture of the ruins give the photos an old movie look.

Coming out of the peace of the ruins, I took the next step towards the famous Daman Lighthouse of Moti Daman. This place is the highest point in the entire area, and the view of the ocean from here looks like a postcard.

As soon as we approach the lighthouse, the first sight falls on its clean white building, which looks even brighter against the blue sky. The wind here is stronger and more sealike than before, as if it is ready to take anyone away with it.

Climbing here may not seem easy, but the view one gets after reaching the top makes every particle of fatigue disappear. The waves spreading below, the rocks hitting the distant shore, the birds flying in the sky, and the golden color of the evening – all come together to create a scene that is a feast for the eyes.

The sunset here is the most magical. Slowly the sun descends into the sea, and its orange-yellow colors spread across the surface of the water. People standing nearby also feel that moment without any sound. Looking from the height of the lighthouse, it seems that the world is a beautiful canvas on which nature is filling its colors.

If you want to spend some time alone here, then this place is perfect for that too. The sound of the sea and the breeze lighten any deep thought.

After seeing both these places, one realizes how much Moti Daman has to say.
The Dominican Monastery takes you to a forgotten time, where not only stones but also memories stand.
Daman lighthouse shows you that moment of meeting of sky and sea, which is rarely found anywhere else.

Moti Daman is neither a very big city, nor are its beaches famous all over the world. But the simplicity, fragrance of history and natural beauty here give it a unique identity. Perhaps that is why whoever comes here does not go back without feeling something different.

This trip was not just a walk for me; It was an experience that added another layer to my thinking and my style. Sometimes we don't need to go far—we just need a quiet place where our hearts can find some space.
