Taragarh shining at a height of 1300 feet – a silent and beautiful travel experience
Greetings of the day,
While moving towards the heights of Taragarh, it seemed as if the road itself was hiding an old secret within itself. The unpaved footpaths, the turns littered with stones, and the mountain silence spread all around – all these together seemed to be a part of some old story. From a distance the fort appears as if it has been standing shoulder to shoulder with the sky for centuries. While climbing up, a strong gust of wind touches our face and we feel as if we are going to a place where the speed of time slows down.

After reaching the fort and seeing its walls closely, one gets an idea of how strong and skillfully it must have been built. Some stones have been worn away, some still have slight carvings left on them. It seems as if these walls want to say a lot. The settlements of Ajmer city spread from top to bottom present a different view. The city is bustling, but when seen from those heights, it looks like a peaceful picture.

At one place on the way, a small 'horse's grave' is visible. It is a very simple place, but there is a strange silence and respect hidden in it. Local people say that it was built in memory of a loyal horse that protected its master during a war. No matter how old the story is, standing at that place gives a unique feeling of loyalty and passion. The trees and plants around keep moving and add a slight mysterious layer to the peace of that place.

Looking down from above, saw children playing cricket in a field. In this serene environment of the mountains, the voices of children, the click of the bat and the echo of the ball bouncing – all these together add a different warmth to the atmosphere. This scene shows that life keeps beating in its own way everywhere. Be it a mountain top or a small plain, humans always have a way of finding happiness.

Proceeding from here, we set out on foot towards the Dargah. The path was long, but something new was felt at every step. At some places, there was greenery, while at other places there was a path made of thick stones, which made walking a little difficult. Still, there was a strange pull in the heart that was carrying us forward without feeling tired.

The atmosphere changes as we approach the Dargah. From a distance one can see the glow of sunlight, the sounds of people and the faint glimpse of velvet sheets. As soon as we reached the main gate of the Dargah, there was a gust of cool breeze – as if the purity within was pulling us towards itself. The carvings above the door, the lights around it and the joy that fills the hearts of the pilgrims passing by, all together create a unique spiritual atmosphere.

As soon as you go inside, the first thing that stops you is your mind. The Dargah of Hazrat Meera Syed Hussain gives a feeling of deep spiritual strength along with extreme simplicity. The light coming in from the skylights, the old decorations on the walls, and the people sitting around—who are lost in their own prayers—all together make the place even more sacred. I stood there silently for some time, closed my eyes and felt the atmosphere. It felt as if the inner peace was reaching the soul.

When we reach near Roza, its beauty is worth seeing. The golden and silvery shining lattice structure, which was covered with sheets and flowers, was shining like a jewel. A strange smell comes from the surrounding walls – a mixed effect of attar, sandalwood and rose fragrance. People move forward slowly, bow their heads and silently express their feelings there. I also did the same. Found a kind of peace, which is probably felt only in such places.

There is a lot of activity around the Dargah. There are shops set up outside – somewhere for perfumes, somewhere for amulets, somewhere for flowers. Skylights are hanging on some shops, while children's toys are hanging on others. Even amidst this hustle and bustle, a balance is maintained. Perhaps that is why people say that the blend of spirituality and everyday life is felt here.

Returning also took the same walking route, but now the view had changed. Earlier I used to feel tired while climbing the path, now I was feeling a strange lightness while descending it. Perhaps because the mind was now lighter and calmer than before. By the time we came down, it was becoming evening and the light orange light falling on the sides of the hill was making everything more beautiful. The lights burning in the distant city looked like small stars.
I once again looked back towards the fort which now looked even more mysterious in the shade of evening. It seemed as if he had been watching the comings and goings of people for centuries, becoming a witness to their blessings, difficulties and happiness. When I looked towards the Dargah, only one feeling came to my mind – that some places are not just to be seen, but to be felt.

This entire journey was not an ordinary journey. There was a story at every turn, a feeling in every scene. Sometimes the old memories of the fort, sometimes the silence of the horse's grave, sometimes the joy of children's cricket, and sometimes the spiritual peace of the Dargah - all together have created a memory which is not easy to put into words. Still, this effort is being made so that maybe these words can capture the feeling that this journey has left in my heart.

If someone wants some respite in his life, a few moments of peace or a meeting with himself, then this journey to Taragarh should definitely be done once. Perhaps the air here, the land here and the blessings here also leave something good within a person.
