Anchor-shaped necklace carved from wood [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear friends of Hive DIY, have a good evening and I hope this week starts off very productively for all of you. I'm very happy to have another opportunity to share with you. We should always be grateful for every opportunity we have in life, so I'm here to show you my latest creation. Sometimes in life we ​​falter, everything we thought was secure begins to shift and we lose control. However, there's always something inside us to hold onto and keep going. That's what this symbol means to me. I've carved a beautiful anchor, a reminder of the marine world, that even though the sea is vast, the ship has stability and firmness in the water when the anchor sinks to the bottom. I carved this beautiful symbol on a piece of pine wood, and as is my custom, I'm going to briefly describe the process until I finished it. Let's begin!

Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy, tengan unas buenas noches deseo que este inicio de semana sea para todos ustedes muy productivos. Yo me encuentro muy contento por poder disfrutar de nuevo de una nueva oportunidad de poder compartir con ustedes, siempre hay que ser agradecido de cada oportunidad que tenemos en la vida, así que por eso vengo a mostrar a ustedes cual ha sido mi última creación. A veces en la vida nos tambaleamos, todo lo que creíamos seguro comienza a moverse y perdemos el control, sin embargo siempre queda algo en nuestro interior a que aferrarnos y así seguir adelante, eso es lo que significa este símbolo para mi, he tallado un hermoso ancla, recordatorio del mundo marino, que aunque el mar es inmenso el barco tiene estabilidad y firmeza en el agua cuando el ancla se hunde en el fondo. He tallado este hermoso símbolo en un trozo de madera de pino y como es costumbre en mi, voy a relatar de forma breve como fue el proceso hasta terminarlo, comencemos!

I used a piece of pine wood that I had prepared a few days earlier for this piece; it measures 4 centimeters high by 3.5 centimeters wide. On one of its faces, I began to draw the sketch of an anchor, a very simple design to make the wood carving process easier to illustrate.

Utilicé un trozo de madera de pino que ya tenía preparado días atrás para esta pieza, mide 4 centímetros de alto por 3,5 centímetros de ancho. En una de sus caras comencé a dibujar el boceto de un ancla, un diseño muy sencillo para que el proceso de tallar la madera sea más fácil de ilustrar.

To begin carving the wood, I used the knife with the largest blade; it makes the job easier when the cuts don't need to be precise, but rather just removing the excess wood. So I started at the bottom of the figure, which bears all the weight of the anchor, shaping it into a point by cutting both sides of the piece.

Para comenzar a tallar la madera utilicé la navaja con la hoja más grande, facilita el trabajo cuando los cortes no deben ser precisos sino que solamente es quitar la madera que sobra. Así que comienzo por la parte baja de la figura, la cual lleva todo el peso del ancla, le voy dando esa forma puntiaguda cortando ambos lados de la pieza.

Now comes the best part: making the precise cuts. As you can see, I've switched tools and am using smaller knives. First, with a triangular-tipped blade, I cut deep into the wood, following the line. Once that's done, I switch to a square-tipped blade and gradually remove the wood. You can see how this part looks from the side; it's similar to cutting a cake, only more carefully.

Ahora si comienza la mejor parte y es hacer los cortes precisos, como pueden observar aquí si cambio de herramientas y utilizo las navajas más pequeñas. En primer lugar con una cuchilla de punta triangular voy cortando la madera hacia lo profundo siguiendo la forma del trazo, una vez hecho esto cambio hacia la cuchilla de punta cuadrada y voy extrayendo poco a poco la madera. Pueden observar hacia los lados como queda esta parte, semejante a cortar un pastel, solo que con más cuidado.

Little by little, I carve into the wood, following the cut I made earlier. For example, if you look only halfway, you can see the shape of the anchor; after that, only a few millimeters of wood remain. Then, I finish by cutting away the remaining wood, which was a thin layer. This way, you can see one of the parts of the anchor.

Poco a poco voy escarvando en la madera, siguiendo el corte realizado anteriormente, por ejemplo, si damos un vistazo solo hasta la mitad, se puede ver la forma del ancla, después de eso solo quedan unos pocos milímetros de madera. Luego, finalizo cortando el resto de madera que había quedado, la cual era una fina capa. Así pueden observar como se observa una de las partes del ancla.

Next, the opposite side is worked out, and the same process is repeated step by step. First, the cut is made following the line of the drawing, and then the wood is removed with the square-bladed knife until the entire carved section is complete. Similarly, the upper, cross-shaped section is also carved; this is the loop where the rope is attached to the boats.

Luego es el turno del lado contrario, se repite paso a paso el mismo proceso, en primer lugar hacer el corte siguiendo la línea del dibujo y después se va retirando la madera con la cuchilla de hoja cuadrada hasta que quede por completo toda esa parte tallada. De la misma forma, la parte superior que tiene forma de cruz también es tallada, es la zina por donde se coloca la soga de los barcos.

After that, all that remained was to sand and polish the piece very well to give it a better finish. Then, on the top, I made a small hole where I put a metal ring for the necklace. After that, I gave it a coat of varnish and let it dry for a while.

Después de eso ya que daba solamente lijar y pulir la piez amuy bien para darle una apariencia de mejor acabado, luego de eso en la parte superior hice un pequeño agujero donde puse una argolla de metal para el collar. Después de eso le di un baño de barniz y deje secar por un tiempo

What did you think of the finished piece? The color of this wood is always beautiful after varnishing; the tone becomes very attractive. Have you ever felt like your world is shifting?
