The Sandbag House Reno Record - the Void - almost reimagined - I

Another step: the handbasin is in - just with cold water for the time being. Why? Because I asked for a hurried favour as friends had said they needed a bed, and had been happy to "camp" in my soon to be new bedroom.

Another reason for just the cold water, is the complication associated with the plumbing. When B moved the washing machine to get at the outlet pipe to which he needed to connect basin, it didn't have a fall. Nope. It sloped up. Unsurprisingly. So that also had to be fixed. Time ran out.

Plumbing

Also, because we're working within the existing construction, the pipes are all external.

Adds to the quirk.

This week, too, I had to collect the mattress I had bought. The seller was impatient for it to be collected. A story for another time. Or not.

I also decided to collect the antique bedstead that I bought some time ago, and which has been languishing in a garage.

The new to me bed waiting in place

Anyway, the serendipitous decision to collect the bed meant I could offer a "camp site". Then, said friends' plans went awry, and they didn't arrive. But that's ok. I have a functioning handbasin.

Now, I have started gradually moving in. Camping at first, too: the electrickery is still not connected (long lead will solve that, short-term) and big furniture, like the piece sitting on the landing on the other side of The Big Hole must wait until the floor has been painted.

That, incidentally, is destined to go at the head of the bed, facing away from the window to create a mini dressing room area.

Until next time
