The Sandbag House Reno Record - The Roof Paint Job - I

I have titled this post The Roof Paint Job - I, but actually it's the second update about the roof with the first just under a week ago. Since then, B and his team have put the second coat of paint on the east side of the house. That means that from the garden, the roof is perfect.

Then, on Monday, he and his band arrived, began and finished the bulk of the west side.

High pressure cleaning

It was a tall (ha!) order. In more ways than one. This is a job that had been on our list for years and because of the challenge of the height and pitch of the roof, constantly avoided pushed down the list.

As they worked, we all watched the weather. We'd been warned that high winds - and possibly rain - would arrive around lunch time.

And it the wind, but not rain, arrived, getting stronger and stronger as the afternoon progressed. Mercifully, the wind came from the north west so they were working mostly in its lee.

It was, nevertheless cold and gusty.

Determined to get the most of it done, they pressed on and managed two coats before ending a long day at around 6pm, at which time it was freezing and the wind gusting at around 50kmph.

The Sandbag House and the street where I live

There she is: roof almost done. The long veranda roof is being painted as I write. The short side won't be done until they have painted the gable end and the window frame.

It's a puzzle. And, the pieces are beginning to fall into place.

Not as quickly as I'd like, but I am beginning to see the progress. That's not to say that the nag has gone. She's still chasing patience away with the arrival of summer and the looming harvest, helping.

Until next time
