Summer's arriving

Apricots

The summer harvest has begun. It always begins with apricots. I knew they were arriving because B had warned me, asking what I needed. Then, a week ago on Saturday, he presented me with 10kg. So last week was was things apricot: jam and chutney.

At the same time, my garden loot is loading:

Tomatoes

I am so thrilled that the pepino have started to melon. I didn't have any last year because pests attacked it and I had to nurture it back to health.

Oh Saturday morning, I had company as I baked the pita breads for the market. Princess Pearli spent a good hour or so gazing through the window or generally getting under foot in the middle of the floor or in the doorway. As she does...she trooped off as I started loading the car.

Be careful what you wish for, they say. Just two weeks ago, I lamented that I was short of stock as some of my lines - the chutneys and some jams - were out of stock and my stall was looking a little bare.

Fiona's Favourites' extended range of products

Not this week as I had to commandeer the lower ground floor of the soap stand for products. If my lines extend even more, I might have to discontinue the soap.

I am doing a cost-benefit analysis because I don't make it (the soap) myself and costs me to get it to the village. Oh, that and the butter and cheese, too. For the same reason and the cash outlay involved: I need to purchase quantities to make the courier fees worthwhile.

Until next time

Apricot jam sounds delightful; I've never had any and I bet you sell out fast.

It's a local favourite and not nearly as sweet as some jams, like peach.
