Sandbag House Reno Record - Phase 2 has begun

I cannot believe that it's nearly two months ago that I said, "This is the first of two updates... Well, that didn't happen. The festive season did.

We have gone from this:

To this.

The passage, and the two rooms leading off it no longer exist.

Instead, there is one large open space and at the far end, the makings of a kitchenette and on the other, a seating and living area. The sink will go into the old oak cabinet on which it is sitting and the little two-plate-oven combination on the other side of the door on an old trolley.

There is a lot of tidying up to do: the walls, ceiling and the floor. Not to mention moving mess and boxes. I did quite a lot of that over the last weekend.

I played.

In addition to relocating trunks, boxes and mess, I began placing furniture. I spent a little time in there, feeling it, to work out whether the vision would become tangible. I think it will. I am holding myself back but I did move a bookcase and bring in a bench. I want to unpack books - and other boxes of bits I have been missing for nearly a year. Not just for The Corner, but for The Sandbag House, too.

I am pleased, though, that my crochet creations, made mostly with scraps, are going to work.
If you look under the sofa, you will see the cheerful kelim that will cover the floor in that space. Boho, eclectic and colourful.

And now, there is some progress. Quite a lot, actually.

Oh, and I am thinking of turning one of the plastic trunks into an ottoman by making a loose cover out of hessian sacks.

It will be a good place for storing extra bedding if it's necessary.

More updates as things progress. Not soon enough!
