Sandbag House Reno Project: The Corner is emerging

It's been a while. Again. And I finished another circle round the sun. But that's not why I've been "out". It's because The Corner - as my new space will be called - is really emerging.

Here are some teasers:

Most of what's going into The Corner is vintage, repurposed and upcycled. This cable was left over from a project for the Robertson Small Hotel. Deciding on the lighting was something that vexed me for months. And then - ha! - the lights went on and my friendly electrician, when I explained it to him, brought this along for me to think about.

Vintage electric cable

I liked the idea; the electrics are done and I am pleased. I'll do the big reveal when some other things have been finished.

A glimpse

Furniture is in place, and the blinds are up. This is a glimpse from the bathroom, into the sitting room.

Little touches

It's the little things that bring character. I'm playing with them. In the mirror, you can see the lighting that I dreamed up.

Once more is in place, I'll "properly" launch The Corner @ The Sandbag House.

Let's just say, things are coming together. Actually, truth be told, it's really about finalising the splitting apart of my house into two units.

Until next time

It seems to be coming along very well. I can't wait to see it all when finished.

Hey. The corner looks sublime to me. The view feels like home. Hope you are enjoying the process. Have a great day ahead.

Thank you. I am glad it feels like home - that's the goal. As for enjoying the process: yes, there are elements of it, I'm really enjoying, but I really now need to get it done! Soon, I hope...

I love the little details - they DO matter. They move it away from sterility and generic sameness to something more interesting and welcoming.

Thank you. Yes, the devil - and the fun and the real - lie in the details. It's coming together. Hope your reno's going well, if not done yet!
