Jammin' the blues

Blueberry jam: perfectly set

As most people who follow my blog know, I'm constantly concerned about achieving the perfect set. And sometime, much to my irritation, I am defeated.

Blueberries, sugar and lemon juice simmering away, with the thermometer keeping tabs

I kept on believing being told that using a thermometer would mean that I'd always achieve the perfect set. Nope. As I learned.

I have learned, much to my chagrin. I have learned that I have to be in the right head heart space. That means actually wanting to, and enjoying the process. While I work hard on maintaining equilibrium, some days are just not good and this winter was hard. Very. And marmalade making season coincides with what was the hardest patch in my life. Ever.

Things don't get easier, they get different and one has to, as the old British sayings go, lift one's chin up, and best foot forward.

No, that doesn't make me permanently miserable and I'm learning to allow small things to make me happy.

Like a jammin' success.

Nineteen jars of blueberry jam: potted, labelled and ready for the market.

Until next time
