A few (more) spring and other things

It's been a few days of a lot and nothing.

Two weekends ago, there was a mountain bike and running event in the village. Their start and finish points usurped us from our usual market spot.

Ahem...

This was all that remained as "evidence" when I arrived this Saturday to set up my stall. A rather peculiar tree "resident".

A few of us suffered from extreme FOMO on Saturday. We're rugby fans and there was a big match happening - all through the market.

Radio

So, stallholder B, brought her radio. It reminded me of my first ever transistor radio which must have been the same size and even had a strap. This one is rechargeable and has a USB port.... Mine only took batteries and could not even be plugged in to an electrical power point! I can't remember when I got rid of it, but it stood me in good stead, if I remember correctly, from about 1978 and for at least the next nearly 15 years....

Spring is here - with a vengeance - with the garden changing almost daily.

Clivias in my garden

I have a love-hate relationship with spring: I love the colours. I hate the changeable weather which goes from glorious sunny days to cold, windy and stormy. In a day.

Plum blossom

The plum tree is covered in blossom. Behind it, the newly painted roof. More of that with the next reno update.

Lime blossom

The lime tree, too, is bursting with blossom.

I haven't dared look venture out and look at either tree this morning: we've had gale force winds for nearly the last 24 hours. It's still blowing with gusts of up to 40 or 50 kmph. This is not unusual for this time of the year, and it would drive The Husband mad as he watched the delicate blossoms (and/or young fruit) blow away.

Alas, the wind has come with little rain - which we need. We shall have to see how things unfold and what harvest holds. The plums in November or December and the limes in late February or March.

Until next time

I still listen to the radio: a lot. But via streaming services. One of the independent radio stations is also one of my key sources of news. Radio so important in the rural areas of our country, too. Often underestimated.
