Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! seasonal rent as bad as I feared?

image.png

Hello everyone. About a month ago I went on a mini rant and tried to explain why I dislike idea of seasonal rent of the cards. It seems like the seasonal rent is now a thing because I no longer see option for daily rent. So in this post I will talk about what I think about it and why I dislike it even more now.

CORNEALUS is one of my favorite ranged monsters. Today I wanted to rent it again. But as you can see I can't afford it. Why? Because I could only rent it for 12 days and it for 12 days it seems really expensive(1+k DEC).
Also there were just two max level CORNEALUS listed for rent. But maybe it is just coincidence? Let's look at some other monsters...

HYDRA is still on of the best cards in the game for me. So how much would it cost to rent a max level HYDRA? Well it seems that none of them are available for rent.

How about one of my favorite summoners Mimosa Nightshade? 3k DEC for 12 days? That seems to be insane for me.

Another great summoner IMMORTALIS 1152 DEC for just 12 days.

How about water cards?

KELYA FRENDUL at max level is unavailable for rent.

Same with Phantom of the Abyss...

Ruler of the Seas? 2387 DEC for 12 days.

PHANTOM SOLDIER? Max level not available.

Even common monster like Nectar Queen is very expensive.

So what does all this mean? Some of the best/ my favorite cards have either became very expensive even to rent or are simply not available at max level because there was are a low supply of them and someone richer already rented all max level copies. I think this means that poorer players like myself will barely be able to continue playing the game. All the best cards will be either out of our budgets or will be rented by whales and other rich players. And less players playing seems like very bad news for the game. When looking at the prices we also need to remember that season is already few days in so I expect that prices for full seasons will be even higher. So in conclusion seasonal rent is a sad news for me and my wallet. So far I have no intention of quitting the game but this change will very negatively affect my journey in splinterlands. I will have to either use pretty much all my HBD earnings to rent or invest even more money from a real world. And at the moment neither of those options seem to be very appealing...

The rent system is like trying to book a cheap hotel room, but all the good ones are either gone or way too expensive. Hope they adjust it before players start quitting because of it

On the rental market, I target the summoner. The price fluctuates as we move into the season. Happy hunting for cheap rental cards

Ah.. Sounds like the situation hasn't improved.. I haven't played Splinterlands (except Guild Brawls) in a while. Hope it somehow gets better later on. 💪
