Movie recommendation: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

I hope that I have not written about this movie yet. I said that Major Payne was a movie from my childhood. The same can be said about this movie as well. It is a story about adventures and struggles of an unexpected hero- A stallion. The story begins with stallion mother giving birth to a baby horse. That baby horse(our brave, curious and strong hero) quickly grows up into a fine young mustang. He becomes the leader of the herd. He spends his time playing with other stallions and fighting of threats to his friends. After some time he encounters new weird animals who walk on two feet and consider themselves rulers of the world- he meets with humans. More specifically with US cavalry. He is captured and meets with his greatest nemesis yet- Colonel. Colonel wants to break the stallion's spirit and tame him. In order to do that he orders that stallion would not be given any food or water. But stallion will remains strong and he escapes with another prisoner of soldiers: Lakota named Little Creek. After that stallion and Little Creek becomes friends but stallion still doesn't let anyone ride him. Stallion falls in love with a mare of Little Creek. After a while Little Creek sets them both free. It seems that a mare intends to go with stallion but at that time US cavalry attacks Lakota village. Mare rushes back to save her master Little Creek. She is woonded and seamingly dying. She is wounded and seemingly dying. After that the stallion was captured again and forced to drag trains with other horses. After some time stallion is rescued by Little Creek who followed him. The colonel and his men chases Stallion but he and Little Creek makes an insane jump and lands on the other side. One of the soldiers wants to shoot the Stallion but Colonel stops him. Stallion and Little Creek have both earned their freedom. After that Stallion and Mare(who also survived) travels back to his herd and live free.

For me this was an inspiring story telling that a stubborn enough individual can accomplish great things. Years later the same lesson was retold by Spartacus and even later by Guts from Berserk. But Stallion of the Cimarron was probably the first time I saw that lesson on tv. And to this day this movie seems kinda special to me.

I fondly remember watching this movie as a child. It was one of those rare animated films that I never lost sight of, no matter how many times it was shown on TV. Its history, its incredible animation, Its characters, its unforgettable soundtrack, everything about this film makes it, without a doubt, a cinematic masterpiece. Back then I loved watching this kind of feature films, along with the Tarzan, Treasure Planet and Atlantis: The Lost Empire movies, this film also was part of my favorites list.

Good review.
