Different shades of darkness.

I had a hard time deciding which game screenshots I should share for this contest. Witcher 3 and Divinity Original Sin 2 both have aged like fine wine. Both those games also have scenic and even stunning visuals. Yet in the end, I chose to go with Disco Elysium. This game is very unique, not just in its storytelling but also in its grim and dark world. But I think that this different and less colorful vibe has a charm of its own.
In these three screenshots, our main characters ended up in the middle of a confrontation and shootout between three mercenaries and a gang of vigilantes called the Hardie boys. In the first and third photos, we can see that each person has a different design. The mosaic on the floor is also a nice detail. But from those screenshots second one is definitely my favorite. It shows us firing a shot at a mercenary leader. I think it feels like we really just fired a bullet from a gun. Blood splatter from the leader's wound only strengthens this effect.

In this shot, there are many details. Each character has taken his own unique standing/ sitting position. There are also different textures. The floor has its own pattern, and the room has various furniture and tiny things on the wall. I think that it shows that even dark and dirty locations can feel very different from one another.

In this screenshot, we are sailing on a boat. You can see both waves and water splatter from our boat's back.

Another shot that makes me admire character designs of this game. Each character has distinctive face and clothing style. Another thing I like in this shot is different surrounding areas.

In this photo, we see a weird creature. This shot is a bit more colorful than the rest of the game. But even this screen appears more grim in comparison to some other more positive games.

In this final screenshot, we see our main characters in a small fishing village. Even the main town in this game is not very prosperous. But the fishing village appears to be a place for extremely poor people. Basically a ruin. I love this dark and slightly depressing change of atmosphere between different places in the game.
The way you described the shootout is really good, especially the second screenshot. You focused on the every small details in each screenshot. Well done.
thank you. This is a bit different from my regular gaming posts where I focus more on the story so it was interesting experience.
That village reminds me one of the resident evil villages with the crazy infected farmers
I never played resident evil. is it good?
i haven't play the last ones, those from last 4-5 years, but the older ones are good
This felt very warm and relatable. Even with all the chores and the cold weather, your day sounds full of life and care for your home and pets.
