Moon Unit Belgian-style Bubblegum Ale From the Afro Caribbean Brewing Company for #BeerSaturday

_DSC9522.JPG

I was placed on a diet by my partner so now I may only have a single beer on special occasions. This is a good thing for my health in the long run, but it is strange how you crave that crisp taste of a cold beer!

Either way, this was a special beer, so it deserves my full attention.

Afro Caribbean Brewing Company makes some crazy and strange beers, and they also ask a pretty penny for their beers. Sometimes I can really just not justify the amount they ask. But in this case, the strange cherry art on the can convinced me to buy it.

Funny how art can cause you to buy a beer!

Either way, join me on this taste-adventure as I drink a delicious beer for #BeerSaturday!

The first smell was kind of confusing for me. It had some Weiss beer notes, yeasty, then suddenly very swee. It was only then followed by some cherry.

But it had predominantly that classic red ale fruitiness.

For my partner, it was predominantly cherry cola, saying that it was the beer version of cherry cola!

The first taste was sweet, with strong and unpront cherry notes. There was a lack of bitterness and only dry sweetness - probably from added sugars. I did not get any bubblegum really.

It was, nonetheless, and interesting beer. Very nice! Interesting and playful, but not really the style of beer that I would buy for myself, in fact, after seeing the price I paid for the beer versus what I got, I cannot even begin to think how they got to that price.

Maybe the cherries were expensive...

Either way, a day with beer is always a good day!

I hope that you had a good beer for #BeerSaturday.

For now, happy drinking.

All of the musings and thoughts are my drunken own. The photographs are also my own, taken with my Nikon D300.

Sounds like an interesting beer. Although I am not much on fruity flavored beers. Especially if they are pricey. Thanks for the review.

Same here. I gave it a try, and as you say it is kind of not the usual beer style we like! Thank you.

Cheers! 🍻 The beer looks good.
It's nice that you're thinking about your health, because I'm not yet.

It is basically just healthy habits. Beer fits nicely into my diet, but in moderation.
