That One Good Neighbor.
Growing up, I never had the chance to experience what having a neighbor is like. When I was 7 years old, my dad had already built his home and we moved in. The place wasn't developed like it is now. Back then we were always indoors because the next house that was close to ours was a little far from us so we never got to experience having close-by neighbors but the case was different when I got to the university.
When I was in the university, I met a sweet soul, a beautiful neighbor who was God-sent. My dearest neighbor was a gift from God; she was beautiful and very intelligent. I met Tiwa during my years in university; I never knew we were course mates, and at first we were strangers to each other but lived in the same compound.
After some years we started talking like male and female neighbors should, and we went to school together. Tiwa was so friendly with everyone; she loves both old and young. I remember days I had nothing to eat; she always turned up for me and people started thinking we were dating. Innocent me, what do I know about relationships? We shared a lot of memories together.
Tiwa is the neighbor that's always wanting to know if you have eaten or done your assignment and wakes you for mid night reading and we even spent some nights together. Trust me, nothing happened. I was so innocent and naive, just like she was. She was like my sister, who was always looking out for me and I was her brother too.
One thing about Tiwa is that she loves loud music. Oh my God, why should a student have a sound system in her room when she's not a musician? Every morning when there was electricity, Tiwa would start playing all the gospel songs she had on her phone and I was not a morning person.
I won't be able to stand from my bed, and there is nothing I could do to stop the music. The next good thing I would hear is a knock on my door and the word "Should I cook your food this morning?"All the worries about the loud music will vanish away and I will say "Yes" stylishly so that it doesn't look like I was waiting for her to ask. Honestly, I am not sure I would have been able to have an easy life like I did in school without her.
Thank you, Tiwa, even though I won't be sending this post to her so she doesn't feel proud of herself.
Thanks for reading. My name is Fashtioluwa.
