Life Will Teach You If You Listen: Hive-Naija Prompt

I have come to learn that life is not a "Bed of Roses" where things will be handed over to you because you feel like you deserve it; even sometimes when you deserve it, it won't be handed over to you. I have come to understand that there will always be two sides to a coin in this world and you can be privileged to be on the good side or work your butt off to be on the good side.

What am I really talking about? I am talking about the rich and the poor. There are people born into riches and they are the ones I tagged as the privileged ones. Yes, they are lucky, and I don't blame anyone for being born into wealth. If I could choose, I would choose being born into wealth. I am not loathing my parents for giving birth to me; they are the best one can ask for and I have never felt poor one day but life has taught me that there will always be places I can't reach or people I can never get access to just because of the place I was born and the life I was born into.

If wishes were horses, even beggars would ride.

I have come to accept that there are things I can't do, not because I don't want to but because I have not gotten to that position to do it. Will I never do them? I will definitely do them but I have to work very hard to achieve those goals. Just because I see other people my age doing doesn't mean I won't be able to do it, they are just a privilege.

One important lesson about life is that it teaches you valuable lessons that can help you reach your goals, but only if you remain humble enough to listen. Pride goes before a downfall, regardless of whether you are rich or poor. If you aspire to succeed, you need to work on your attitude and how you interact with others. Nothing is given for free; even life itself does not provide lessons without cost. Instead, it offers mistakes for you to learn from.

I have seen people rise from nothing because they refused to let their circumstances define them. I have also seen people with all the privileges in the world waste them because they failed to realize the value of what they had. Life is unpredictable, and the tables can turn at any moment. The person who struggles today may own an empire tomorrow, while the one who has everything today may lose it all.

That’s why I choose to focus on growth, not just on wishing for a different reality. I choose to learn, to evolve, and to create opportunities for myself. If doors don’t open for me, I will build my own. If resources are scarce, I will make the most of what I have. I refuse to let the circumstances of my birth limit me.

At the end of the day, privilege may give some people a head start, but perseverance, wisdom, and determination are what truly sustain success. Life is not about where you begin; it’s about how you finish. And I intend to finish strong.

This is how I perceive life, or should I say this is how life has changed my perspective over time?

Thanks for reading.

I like your perspective a lot. They show that you have a strong grip on what you want out of life and you are not letting anything stop you.

I hope to see you finish strong 👍
