Lessons Learnt Over Time On Hive
Before many of us became an expert on Hive ecosystem, with the knowledge of navigating through various frontend. There was a time in our life we were newbies, novice and learners who always ask questions from one community to another.
I remember joining Hive as a newbie, it was at that time my Onboarder took a break from the Hive ecosystem because of a new job and this left me with no one to guide me through. Let’s just say I learnt everything the hard way. I was going from post to post asking question, Thank God for people like Erikah, Princessbusayo, Merit.aha mama and many others I can’t mention.
Issues encountered as a newbie
The first issue I encountered on Hive was trying to post and I was getting a message like “You don’t have enough RESOURCE CREDIT blah blah blah” At first, I don’t even understand or know what RC is. I thought I had done something bad and the hive witness are on me. I was just a newbie, I started asking question. I made a comment on a lady post in OCD community and someone else delegated 20HP to me, that was how I was able to start making post. The HP stayed with me for 6month or more.
The second issue was the splitting of earning. When my onboarder was explaining Hive to me, he told me anything I earn would be given to me, I mean all. So my introduction post, I got lot of upvote and it amounted to $20 or more. After seven days, I saw just $5 in my HBD and $5 in my HP. I was confused. I messaged him and told him about my situation and he was confused too. He said probably I added a beneficiary to my post, this and that. I started sorting ways to remove all beneficiaries but it didn’t work out during the next payment so I thought I had been scammed. Now I know better.
The third issue was the Hive Engine. Like, the first time I heard “Hive Engine” I was thinking it was like the engine of a car or some sort of machine. I was told that is were our token were stored. I really disturbed Merit.ahama and princessbusayo during this phase. It was this time I knew about about frontend called “Peakd” I can’t believe I sold my VYB token that only worth $0.23. Thinking back to it, I feel so sad for myself.
These are the mistake I have made during my early days on Hive. Some of this mistake could have been avoided if I had a guide that could put me through. I believe if you’re a newbie on hive, you should have a guide that already knows how the ecosystem works and someone you can always contact easily.
RC is the Resource Credit you use in making post and commenting. If you lack in RC, you won’t be able to do all of this things. No one is taking away your earnings, your earning is split into two, the first half back to the reward pool and the other half is going to you. One to your HP and the other to your HBD. And the hive engine is something everyone should know about. That is where your earn tokens go to.
