Big Fash is Kwaku The Traveler.

I love traveling, and I love seeing sights and being on the road. I can proudly say that out of the 36 states in my country, I have visited 16 of them and spent a good amount of time there, not counting the states I have traveled to without counting the states I have traveled past.

One of the experiences I can't get out of my head was when I was traveling to Sokoto State. The fact that I spent 24 hours on the road was crazy, and the part that made it crazier was that we never stopped to spend the night in any place. The driver just kept driving through the night, and I was thinking I was going to be a goner because of the insecurity that was rampant in the country then.

I left my state at 11 am for Sokoto, and I got to my destination at 12:30 pm the following day. One thing that surprised me was that people who were in the bus with me were highlighting at different states. This means not everyone who entered the bus was going to the same state as I was.

At a point, the more people get down, the more other people join the bus going to a different state. I was scared, but the rush was what made it more fun. I was able to travel through different states of the core northern part of Nigeria. I saw different things, and my perspective about the north was improved.

After I was done with my assignment in Sokoto, I traveled to Kwara state, Ilorin, to be precised then I traveled to Abuja, from Abuja, I traveled back to Lagos state, From Lagos state, I visited Ogun state and that was the easiest journey because Lagos state and Ogun State share boundaries. The journey from Lagos to Ogun State was about 4 hours, so it wasn't that bad. I went back to Lagos state, then traveled back to Abuja, where I spent some months before visiting Nasarawa state.

Abuja and Nasarawa also share boundaries, it was also an easy journey. It was about 6 hours journey. The best part of all this was that, all this movement was done in 40 days.

One thing I love about this journey was the fact that we had to stop in different states to buy food. When I go to eat, I try my best not to buy the general food of the nation (Rice). I go for their local delicacy and I can boldly say I have eaten so many local food that I can't count. I remember eating mashed fried rice, Suya, corn chaf, donkunu, Fura, white soup, black soup, and many more.

Right now, I would like to visit the south south region of Nigeria, precisely Akwa Ibom because I have some friends here on hive who have said so many interesting things about the state and one of my baby is there (Sifon) so it would be a good chance to visit that state, sightseeing and understand their culture too. I hope to enjoy the state like I did others when I visit.

Thanks for reading. My name is Fashtioluwa.

You’ve really experienced Nigeria in a unique way. Traveling that much in 40 days isn’t easy, but it clearly opened your eyes to different cultures and lifestyles. I hope Akwa Ibom gives you another memorable experience.

Hello there, fellow Sokoto traveller!
Finally, someone that can relate to the stress of travelling to Sokoto. Did you also stop over at Zamfara till you next day due to their curfew?
