3 Years On Hive: Impact and Lessons

I remember the first day I registered my hive account, it was quite overwhelming because I had no ideas on what to do or how to go about it. Yeah, I was a crypto enthusiast already but the more you know the more you realize you know little and that was what happened to me 3 months after joining the blockchain.

When I joined the HiveBlockchain at first, it was very hard and it kinda looks like everything was just based on writing and creating content, so what I did was joined so many community I think I can add value to, it’s funny how some communities I joined, I haven’t made a single post in them. I guess I was naive back then.

After spending a year on hive, I began to see the ecosystem as more than just coming online to dump your write up and then go have a nice day, my perspective about hive began to change. This is a blockchain one can build something meaningful on.

Just yesterday during a podcast session with @dlmmqb @rionweb @gwajnberg @bruno-kema and many more people, I learnt new thing about the second layer of hive L2, hive tools, and more.

Currently, I no longer see hive as a place to just create content, I see hive blockchain as a place for investment that would pay for all your time and money invested in it. The blockchain is wield and there are so much that has been built on it which I haven’t even touched. Yeah, my perspective changed.

During the course of my three years on hive, I have met a lot of people who have help me grow. One thing I love about the current ecosystem is the newbie initiative that is run by different communities like #hivelearners and #hive-reachout

When I joined hive, there was no initiative I know of, I mostly go to people comment section to ask questions, some concerning their post or off topic. There were writeup about how the ecosystem works so mostly I go around searching for the writeup to read and understand what I was doing wrong.

Luckily, I was able to meet many whales and good people who carefully guide me until I was able to find my feet.

One of the best thing about hive was that, most of the knowledge I got from the blockchain have been applied into my personal life and with this, I have gotten some offline jobs, spoken about web3 on Xspace meeting and have gotten many opportunities to show what I value I can bring to the place I find myself.

So, yes. Three years on hive is not a waste of time. If I could go back in time to the time I created my account, I would have got back to the time hive started, then that way I know I would have made much more impact both on the blockchain and life outside of the blockchain.
