Teachers are role models everywhere.

Special greetings to everyone on this glorious platform. My gratitude goes to the entire member of this community especially the management for the privilege to drop my participation. I considered this theme as very important because a lot has gone wrong in the society concerning teachers.

The role of teachers in the present world can't be overemphasized. Any country or community without a good educational strategy is doomed because posterity is at stake. The role of teacher is not restricted to only the confine classroom. The fundamental responsibility of a teacher is to guide and impart the students with requisite knowledge. In this post, I would like to highlight some major roles of teachers within and without classroom.

The teacher is vested with the responsibility to share knowledge, teach values to students. Most skills are taught by teachers. A teacher is not necessarily someone that went to the university and obtain a degree certificate. A teacher as I attempted to explain earlier is anyone who share information of knowledge with another.

Another significant role a teacher does is in the aspect of planning lessons. The teacher prepares, plans and delivers lessons in classroom. These are carved from the curriculum and step down to syllabus and scheme of work. Another thing teacher does is to manage classroom and maintain discipline amongst students. The subject of discussion focuses on whether the role of teacher should be within or without a classroom.

There are many other things a teacher can do outside the school environment. For instance in the place mentorship. A student can't be mentored just in the class alone but go beyond normal setting to affect the lives of students positively. I could remember when I was teaching in a school, I had the opportunity to trace some students beyond the school environment. I monitor whatever they do even when they aren't in school. A teacher is like a model that students copy and become.

Teacher's role goes beyond classroom because of holistic development of a child. The role of teachers is versatile and it depends on the kind capacity one has. I would like to share my experiences while in secondary how my principal was able to show me truly what a genuine teacher is. My principal happened not to be a Nigerian but he was a disciplined personality that doesn't want to see any student moving aimlessly or squeesed clothes after school.

This man normally monitors all our affairs after school hour by ensuring that discipline was the order of the day. This opened my eyes to understand that the work of a teacher goes beyond the corridors of just classroom performance. Hmmm one of the teachers ever followed me to my house to know where I lived. I was shocked when I saw him. That made me to have high respect for him and integrity. Child's development and growth is not only determined by the parents but other individuals that could add value to such lives.

As I conclude, teacher does a lot in the formation of an individual both in classrooms and outside classrooms.
