I'm excited to share my last perspective of the third edition on this platform. I had a hectic day today i never knew I would be able to drop something. Thanks be to God I'm back now. I want to also appreciate the entire management for their efforts and love towards the authors by encouraging them to do more. May the lord bless you.

The theme for this edition focuses on social media call out. When i saw it, a lot of thought started resonating over my heart. Using social media as a yardstick to take a decision against someone. Hmmm if this is true then something need to be adjusted in the constitution especially of my dear county Nigeria. Every citizen ought to exercise his or her civic right in terms of information or communication. Social media platforms are opportunity to share idea and other things. Since the advent of social media platforms, there has been a lot of transformation in so many facet and organization which these are doing well today.

Social media is a way to disseminate information. Social media today has made it very easy for everyone to share thoughts and express yourself. There are some people that are confronted with inferiority complex but lack strength and capacity to stand before people. They normally leverage on the social media handles where they can send whatever that disturbs them to the public. Everyone can exercise right for speech and information but it should be guided to avoid abusive and insulting words.

Why would someone be penalized because of expression on social media even though the intention of the writer might not be properly known. There was a lady that was killed because of what she wrote in the platform of her class. The members of the class misunderstood her while some had a good grip of her intentions. The entire platform wasn't properly managed hence she was killed. The big question remains that should our opinion or perception share on social media be enough reason that one could be excommunicated or dismissed from his duty?

If the writer or the person expressing himself or herself didn't infringe on the right of the organization or individual, i don't think they should be penalized. Freedom and right for speech should be exercise by everyone. I can't imagine an organization will just go through my social media platforms and pick an allegations against me that doesn't even contradict anything from the organization. This is wrong for me. However there is need to balance it. Social media platforms should have control and restriction as to what one writes or drops on the platform. Sometimes what you see on the social media platforms are truly the reflection of such an individual.

A lady didn't get a job because after the organization went through some of her social handles and discovered that she's not suitable for the job. Her write up and other content doesn't portrayed the image of the organization. Her content doesn't match with the values and policies of the organization.

In conclusion, allow everyone to exercise freedom of speech especially on social media and don't cage people just like the former regime in the Nigerian government.

Thanks for reading through.

I think there's also a point where people over-exercise that freedom of expression. In everything, there should be a balance. People should control and thoughts and their urge to give out their opinions in just about every matter.

I still remember the lady you talk about, it's well. Our opinions should not be penalized because we had freedom to our opinion and idea

freedom of speech is important and should be respected, the problem is when you go a bit over like saying racist and xenophobic speech!
