ORGAN TRAFFICKING IS BAD

The second edition comes with another interesting theme that I can't wait to share my perspective about the whole matter. It's been awesome sharing thoughts and learning from other people's thoughts on this platform. Special thanks to all the management and the entire participants for keeping this community busy and updated. The theme focuses on the issue of organ market.

The human organ market can be seen as organ trade or in other words it can be seen as organ trafficking. This entails the buying and selling of human parts of the body like organ, tissue, cell etc. I had the privilege to travel to one of the states in my country, as a passenger you can't avoid several talks from other fellow passengers. I was shocked to my bones to hear the illegal acts that go on in clinics and other health facilities. In fact one of them shared with us practically what happened to her when she operated on. For the first time I heard that some health personnel carry out devious things in health facilities. They remove some vital parts of the body without the patient's consent and sell it out to the rich people. This is absolutely disheartening and heartbreaking for me.

Some countries of the world today have laws that governs them and also regulates how organs are being donated or transplanting. The sale of organ is completely an illegal act because of the high rate of exploitation and harm it normally causes to individuals. There was a time that a case was raised concerning a big man that caught certain individual so that they transplant one his kidneys to his dieing son. From the rumors he was arrested.

There are varied types of organ trades that's happening today. One of such is that kind where a living individual donates an organ for someone that is in need which money is paid at the end as a compensation charge. There is another that the organ is removed from a death person and transplanted to those that need it. Money is also charged. The last kind of organ trade is the one that involves a forceful means to remove a particular organ from an individual and then transfer it to where it's most needed. This normally occurs in terms of abduction etc.

In my dear country Nigeria, there is no legal ground for organ trade. In fact the national health Act and organ transplantation Act also clearly stated that it's illegal to do such things. The sale of organs is prohibited and most countries discourages organ trafficking.

The big concern is this, why do people sell their organs? I think one of is the level of poverty or debt. This normally raises a high financial desperation amongst individuals which makes them sell off their organs easily. Should we allow hunger l, poverty to make us sell our parts of the body? Other people sell their organs because they lack knowledge, no understanding about the risks that are involved or the laws that govern it.

With recent research, its been discovered that some countries like Iran, have implemented regulated living donors program where the donors could receive some financial compensation and help.

Organ marketing is not good and should be discouraged at all course.

Thanks for reading through.

The medical practitioners who are involved in this kind of act should be made to face the route of the law. For our dear nation this kind of law should not be allowed to see the light of the day because it will certainly be twisted

Be it trafficking or selling both are bad and exactly why I don't agree with the need to allow it be sold by it owners. There's a limit to what we can sell and our body needs those organs to function properly.
