MY CHILDHOOD DREAM METAMORPHOSED TO...

source

Dreams can mean different things to different people based on certain factors like religion, superstition, or cultural ties. Dreams play a vital role in human beings. A dream can simply be put as a thought or image that happens when someone is sleeping. Some see dreams as a reflection of images that occur in the mind of individuals either when they are sleeping or resting in a trance. Some religions have different meanings for what dreams signify.

For the sake of this post, I will concentrate on the dream I had as a child, which is for week 18.Each and everyone of us had a series of dreams or a dream when we were kids, and some lived to actualize such dream whereas for some of us it was completely a different thing altogether. I would like to share my practical experience, how the journey has been, and where I am today. From the primary school level, I had a serious passion for academics even though there wasn't enough clarity as to what I should pursue.

The first thing that happened was that I fell in love with science subjects. From that end, the dream to become a pilot started crystallizing in my mind. To be honest, I was so engrossed and driven by the way I heard about pilots. I got attracted to their kind of dress code. Wow. Remember I never saw any of them live oooooo; neither had I ever gone to the airport then. It was just my passion and dream. I kept imagining myself in a plane taking people from one country to another. The only understanding I had was that a pilot drives the plane in the air and one can earn a heavy salary; these were my motivations. This pushed me to even add a portfolio to my name, especially for my textbooks. Before my name comes pilot. Hmmmmm, pilot Friday...once you call that, my head grows so big, like an elephant. That became my popular nickname. What a dream I had in primary school.

Immediately I stepped into secondary, hmmm, I don't know how come the dream I had about becoming a pilot metamorphosed and disappeared into a new one about a microbiologist. I noticed that my dream was associated with big professions we have in science, like biochemistry, medicine, microbiology, chemistry, etc. My ears were itching to hear such. The good thing remains the fact that I still had passion for science even at the secondary school level. In my school you can select subjects of your choice until you get to senior class. When I finally landed, behold, it was science. I still pitched my tent with the dream that I will be a microbiologist.Abeg, don't mind my wavering attitude in choice of a career. Oooo, you know, knowledge grows, and I was also growing in my understanding, wisdom, etc. When I finished my final exams as a senior class, there was a complete change of dream again. Hahaha, this is the third time I've changed my dream oooooo because of varied factors. As I was waiting for admission into a higher institution, my uncle gave me money to buy a form for college of education in Pankshin Plateau State. That was the genesis of my final dream and what I am today. I got the form and applied for a two-subject combination, which is chemistry and biology. When I finished, I became a confirmed teacher of chemistry and biology. I started feeling fulfilled as a teacher. In fact, I noticed that this is truly a call of God upon my life.

Later I decided to pick one of the subjects to build sufficient capacity. Behold, I continued with chemistry in my first degree and ended up with inorganic chemistry in my second degree. I remain hopeful for my third degree in inorganic chemistry soon. What a long journey of life. I had no good counselor at the early start of my life, which affected my dream. I have no regrets about where I am today because it's God that made it this way for me. Everyone has a different pathway to your desired dream. There are some whose dream from childhood became a reality, while for some of us, the reverse is the case. All thanks to God for everything.

Wow
You had a good dream when you were much younger
Pilots are one of the best paid jobs

Growing up, many of my friends wanted to be pilots. When our teachers asked us what our childhood dreams were, they would tell out “pilot.” Unlike them, I had a different dream.

Hmmm! My brother. Sometimes when you grow up you will soon discover that things are not the way the seems. Do you really think is too late for you to be a pilot? Maybe just a question.
Thanks for sharing

Not late but if God wants me to be a pilot, same passion would have resurfaced sha. I've understood my true call and passion now. Thanks for the input
