Home work the merit, demerit and my perspective.

It's another another precious moment to bring forth my entry for this edition. It's been amazing and for this topic it's timely because my children just resumed school recently.
Giving children homework has its advantages and disadvantage as well however it's better to have it balanced.

Home work to pupils is very important and is a valuable instrument for developing a child's skills and makes learning effective etc. let me quickly run through the significance of this.

• It makes learning beautiful and change the perspective of the child. Home work helps pupils learn practice what they are taught. One of the challenges of learning lies in the shores of practice. Learning without practice is useless and one of the ways to inculcate good educational morals is via practice which would make it indelible in the life of the child. Another advantage home work has is that it helps to develop the study habits. Periodic assignments pushes the student or pupil to develop consistent reading and studying habit, self discipline etc.
• Another vital importance of home work does to children is that it develops skills. This includes the ability of a pupil to develop critical thinking and solving problem skills. Giving them assignments makes them think outside the box and enable them to develop self esteem in confronting any challenge. Like my kids always like doing homework by themselves without anyone helping them. This normally leads to self discovery method of learning. Some children started developing interest towards engineering because of the kind craft they did while in primary or secondary level of studies. It was their exposure to assignments, classwork and others that stirred this passion in them.
• Home work boost the child and builds the child's capacity towards being responsible and accountable. When I reflect at how my kids doing at home, just yesterday I tried to help her but she refused that she would do it by herself. All i needed to do was just to guide her. This is one of the ways the child learns very fast. As part of taking responsibility, there are some children that don't like doing anything at home.
• Teachers can't exhaust everything in school therefore its expedient if the child is engaged outside the circumference of the school. Educational curriculum supposed to be all encompassing both in school and outside the school.

Disadvantage of giving home work to pupils

Do you know most of the assignment given to these kids are done by the parents? Sometimes children don't concentrate to do it and parent would hold their hands and do it for them. The question is what's the essence of giving them assignments if they can't do it by themselves???
Giving them home could also make children lazy and it shouldn't be considered as a major way of test.

My perspective and conclusion

We need to get balance to this. Everyone or us have varied believe systems however home work could be a good thing and if not properly managed could affect the child at the end. Personally I like children being engaged with home work. I have seen lots of transformation in the lives of my children.
