There are varied kinds of relationship everyone is entitled to any. Double dating might be suitable to one but personally I don't like it at all. God has created us with individual differences and uniqueness. What is good for one might be bad for another. There are some people that are in love with double dating whereas some don't have such in their dictionary.

Double dating entails going out with two people at the same time under the umpires of relationship which is very difficult to strike a balance of commitment and faithfulness. If care is not taken one would build up the relationship under the umbrella of lies because sustaining two relationship at the same time is not easy at all. You can't go to farm and start using two hole to till the ground simultaneously.

Whatever one does on earth has its merit and demerit depends on how is viewed. I don't see double dating as a good thing because it has lots of disadvantage compared to the merit it carries. I like the principle of life where one would take a step at time instead of jam-packed everything that one won't be faithful at the end. I used to hear some people say that it's better to have two different relationship so that if one doesn't work you can easily switch to the one that works out fine for you.

Double dating is normally associated with lies. You can't equally share things no matter what. I would like to itemize the side effects of double dating.

• One of the greatest effects of double dating is lies. You can't be trustful and committed to one relationship. It takes one lie to cover for another one. This would become like a routine and finally land one into an unpleasant situation. Any relationship built on lies will certainly not withstand the challenges of time.
• Another effects of double dating is that time is not properly managed. You can't divide yourself into two therefore managing two relationships at the same time will be hectic and demanding. Imagine the time you are at the other side suddenly the second one needed you what would you do? You won't be able to share quality time with both parties. This point might be discarded by certain religion however it's just my perception that I am trying to share.
• The little resources one possesses would be squandered anyhow. I have heard cases where the man died and left properties for the family. It was a tussle for the wives to divide such inheritance. When you have two relationships that means you must deliberately work with extra might to meet up the need and demand of both parties.

conclusion

Double dating could be advantageous or disadvantage depends on who is involved. In all, for one to maintain transparency I guess double dating shouldn't be encouraged for focus and purpose realisation.
