ideally you have a government that sees self governance as a right, and only agrees on certain basic things. I think this is how the USA was supposed to work.
I wish we had just abolished slavery made women equal, returned some more land to natives and kept most things as states rights. Nobody thinks of the 50 states as 50 autonomous regions with a unifying constitution now….
This makes a lot of sense.
in some ways though I think we do have a fluid blending of economic systems. We all share and we all earn and purchase. It depends how you see these terms.
I don’t usually get into debates about communism and capitalism because most people don’t agree on the definitions…honestly most people don’t even understand them. The misunderstandings people have are really incredible sometimes.
Sharing experience and interpretations with curious people (like you are doing) can be useful but arguing is a waste of energy
You're right on this one. I had to study deep about it before posting the initial thread. A d the feedback I have gotten from people here has even thought me way more now
I’ve had experience in both kinds of societies and I feel the stated ideology of institutions is very different, some family values are different, a few important things you never think about are different. The reality of most other things are the same.
