Tomato plants are a very important horticultural commodity but in general production, both quantity and quality, is still low. This is caused by, among other things, hard soil, poor nutrients, unbalanced fertilization, pest and disease attacks, the influence of weather and climate, and so on. In contrast to plants that use EM4 technology, they always show a high level of fertility and productivity and are resistant to pest and disease attacks. According to Vegetable Farmer Tono (39) from Gisting Village, Tanggamus Lampung, EM4 is used before the land is plowed, organic materials fermented with EM4 is given 10 tons per hectare evenly and covered with soil or forage or plant residues. During the maintenance (growth) period, once every 2 weeks the tomato plants are sprayed or sprinkled with fermented EM4.
