FICTION #234..... The Abduction.
Matthew was driving back from work one evening, when his life took a drastic turn. A group of masked men armed with guns and knives, ambushed him and dragged him out of his car.
“Get down on the ground now,” one of the men shouted, as he was forced into another car.
“Who are you and what do you want from me?” Matthew demanded struggling to free himself.
“You will know what we want when we get to our destination.” Another kidnapper shouted trying to shut him up.
“Please don't hurt me, I don't have any money to give you people.” He said trembling.
“Shut up your mouth before I blow your brains off.” One of the men said pointing a gun to his head.
Matthew kept his mouth shut throughout the drive since he did not know the reason for his kidnapping or the reason behind it.
As they drove to an unknown location, Matthew became more terrified because the place was filled with incompleted buildings and bushes everywhere.
He took a glance around just to figure out where he was and what to do to make sure he escaped from there alive.
They kidnappers took him to one of the uncompleted buildings and dropped him on the floor with his hands tied behind his back. They left him and went outside to call their boss.
“Hello boss, we have gotten the guy.” what are we to do with him?” One of the men said
“Just let him be for now, wait for further instructions. Make sure you give him everything he needs because we need him alive.” The voice on the other end said.
“Okay boss.” He dropped the call and went in to meet the others.
The captors made sure that Matthew got everything he needed but Matthew was not comfortable because he was not in his home. He was worried that his family will be looking for him. The captors did not contact his family since they did not need ransom from him.
Three days later, Matthew was just sitting when his friend and business partner walked in.
“What are you doing here, Martin?” Matthew asked with a shocked expression on his face.
“I asked my boys to abduct you.” Martin replied with no remorse.
“Why are you doing this? We are friends and business partners. Why hold me hostage?”
“Shut your mouth, I'm not your friend. You went behind my back and took the contract I have been pursing for months now.” Martin's said.
“It is not like that. I was more qualified for the contract that is why it was given to me.” Matthew explained.
“You were more qualified? Is that what you can say? He said shouting at him. You know your life is in my hands now so better be quiet.” Martin said angrily.
“We can settle this without being violent to each other.”
“I want you to hand me the contract and forget about it.”
“Ah! Martin, you can't do this to me. I've worked so hard for this contract. You don't expect me to let it go just like that.” Matthew argued.
“Fine, since you are not willing to give me the contract, you will remain here for a very long time.” Martin threatened.
“Okay, since you say until I give you the contract before you let me go, let's do it 50-50 because I value my life so much.” Matthew concluded.
“Nice one, now you are talking. I will give you the necessary documents to sign so that you will not go back on your words.” Martin said smiling. Untie him boys, he is free to go.
Matthew was dropped off at his house by his friend and he drove off without going in with him.
Matthew could not believe his friend and business partner could do this to him just because of a common contract. He took a deep breath, thanking God for bringing him home safely.
