CNF#140..... Baking gone wrong.

It was a happy day for me because I just received my pay cheque, so I decided to go for shopping. I called my friend Anita to come and excort me since I did not want to go alone and I did some in help in making choices.

We got to the mall and started shopping. I needed groceries for the house and I also wanted some personal stuff as well. So after shopping for shopping, we decided to stop by at an eatery because we were. While in the eatery eating, Anita suggested we bake some cookies when we get home that it's been long she ate homemade cookies. I agreed with her because I needed some too.

When we got home, we off loaded the groceries and kept them where they are supposed to be. After arranging the items in their appropriate places, we decided to start the baking process.

“Please sieve the flour into the small bowl for me.” Anita said.

“Why the small bowl? I told you I need some cookies at home as well and you want to use the small bowl.” I responded with a smiling face.

“Ah! Faith, who told you it will be small? Just sieve some flour for me please.”

“Okay ma, I'm at your service.”

After sieving the flour, I sieved the icing sugar as well and we started the process. As we were mixing, I remember there is no egg in the house and we got to buy when we went shopping. I had to rushed out to get some eggs for the cookies. I did not take up to fifteen minutes because there is a superstore close to by house so I did not waste time.

While mixing the cookies, Anita asked me to heat up the oven so that when once we are done, we will just put it direct in the oven. After baking, we place the cookies in the pan and put it in the oven and the heat reduced so that it will not get burnt. We cleaned up the kitchen and went to the sitting room and watch television while waiting for the cookies.

Twenty minutes later, I went to the kitchen to checked on the cookies. As I was about to enter the kitchen, I saw smoke gushing out of the kitchen. I called out for Anita and she rushed to the oven and switched it off.

“What could go wrong? I thought the heat was reduced.” Anita asked with shock.

“I don't know what happened my dear, I reduced the heat as you said.” I replied shivering.

“It a good thing you came to check that time you did, if not we will not know what would have happened.”

“I'm still in shock to what really happened. What would I have done with someone's apartment.”

“My dear, let's just thank God nothing happen.” Anita said.

I felt like crying because all our time and effort gone to waste. But Anita console me by saying “we can always bake another one, it just cookies it better no life was lost or any valuable thing.”

I was still wondering what could have happened to the oven that made it to over heat itself, because it was perfectly fine before I put it on.

Things happen, and malfunctioning is one of those things.

Good one it was just burnt cookies and nothing more.

Luck you to say. Thanks for sharing your story.
