CNF#137...... Unconvincing.
After a hectic day at work, I was very tired and needed to do some paperwork which will be submitted the next day.
So I called my friend to help me carry out some research on the work I was doing because my computer was faulty. She agreed to do it and I was happy it would be done.
I took my bath, ate my dinner and decided to rest for the night with the hope that everything was settled. I slept that night and what woke me was my caller ringtone.
“Hello, Faith, I'm sorry I was not able to carry out the research you asked me to do yesterday.” Rita said
“Why are you just telling me now? You agreed to help me with that research and I was hopeful about it. What do I do now?” I asked feeling a little lost.
“I'm sorry, my computer developed a fault last night and I couldn't call you because it was late.” She replied.
“Rita you are fond of this. You like giving weak excuses when you don't want to do something.” I said.
“Why are you talking like this now? Rita argued.
“Yes it's the truth. Remember when I packed into my new apartment and I needed your assistance with unpacking?
I called you specifically and you agreed to help but when the day came, you told me you had an emergency at home. I later found out it was a lie.” I said.
“You still have that in mind?” She said and hung up the phone.
I was worried about what to do because my boss would definitely ask for that paperwork.
So I decided to call my boss and tell him I was under the weather. I was not happy with what Rita did, so I decided to visit her and tell her my mind.
That afternoon, after finishing my chores, I went to her house. On getting there, I met her lying on the couch and working on her computer. When she saw me, she started smiling.
“Why are you smiling?” I asked.
“Nothing, it is the way you are doing your face.” She replied.
It’s not funny Rita? I asked you to assist me with something and you agreed, only to tell me your computer developed a fault and it is the same computer that you are using presently" I said without a smile.
I'm sorry Faith, it is just that I was not chanced yesterday and I didn't want to say no to you. She added.
“It is better to tell me no than giving meweak excuses. Such an attitude does not help any relationship" I advised her.
After telling her what was on my mind, she apologized and promised never to do that again. The rest of the day was fun for us because we went out shopping and got to go watch a movie.
Though what Rita did was not good, that did not stop me from being her friend but I had to tell her the truth by advising her to refrain from giving unnecessary excuses if she is not willing to do something.

Rita should have been straight forward with you but I guess she felt that giving you that excuse would get her off the hook.
Not everyone condones weak excuses.
You're right my dear. Thank you for reading
You're welcome
It's disheartening when people make promises without fulfilling them especially when you have relied on them.
Yes ooooo, very very disheartening. Thank you for reading.
