CNF#134....A scam proposal.
It was a sunny afternoon. I was working in my office when my friend Flora walked in with a file in her hand. Flora and I had been friends for eight years and business partners for two years.
We met when we were in the university and became friends. Since then, we've been friends till date.
On this particular afternoon, I was in the office when she walked in and handed me a file.
“What is in the file?” I asked.
“It's a business proposal”
I stared at the proposal in front of me, my mind racing with questions. My friend and business partner had been pushing me to invest in this new business but something was not adding up.
“Flora, can you explain this to me one more time?” I asked trying to keep a calm voice.
“How exactly do they plan to generate these returns?”
Flora leaned back on her chair with a confident smile on her face. It's a sure thing, trust me. They're a reputable company with a proven track record. If we invest in this business, we’ll make it big.
I raised an eyebrow. “Make it big? That sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?”
Flora smiled, “No catch my dear. It is just a solid investment opportunity which you need to try, that's all.”
I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off with the deal. I started to smell a rat.
I asked Flora to show me the financial records of the company I'm to invest in. She smiled slyly for a moment before she gained her composure. “Ah, I'm not sure I have those records available right now, but trust me they are clean.”
“That's all I needed to hear. Flora, I think we're done here,” I said, you can leave my office anytime you feel like. I'm not investing in anything I'm not fully sure of.”
Flora was not happy with my decision. I saw desperation on her face. “Don't be like that. This is a great opportunity. Don't let it pass you by or you will regret it later" Flora said.
I was firm with my decision and I advised her to do same. This smells like scam to me my dear friend. So I advise you to opt out of it.
Her expression turned cold and she leaned forward, her voice low. “You're making a very big mistake. You will be sorry you didn't trust me on this.” she said and walked out of my office.
When she left my office, I decided to investigate the company, and after my investigations. I found out that the company was bankrupt and they are at the verge of losing everything.
I called my friend to tell her what I discovered and she was shocked.
“You see the company you wanted me to invest in?” I told you the offer was too good to be true.
“I'm sorry, I didn't investigate before bringing it up to you, is just that the offer was enticing.” I'm really sorry, Flora apologised again.
“It is okay, I'm just glad that I stood my ground on not investing in the business. I smelled a rat before it was too late.”
So next time before you bring any cooperation deals, try and investigate so that you will not be used as a tool.
"Alright, I understand" she said smiling.

What are friends for?
It's good that you saved your friend from a regretful decision.
Not only were the company desperately in need because of their bankruptcy, your friend I would say is a greedy one too, I'm sorry for this, because in situations like this, you make your own findings, do research and investigate before going ahead to invest in something you have no idea about just because the returns looked juicy and worst of all, even trying to convince another person into it without even making her own research about the company.
That's not a good thing, and she needs to work on that by herself, she might not be so lucky next time to have someone doing that investigation or research for her.
All the same, it's good you stood your ground and not believe her words and blindly invest in a company she wasn't even transparent about or know alot about
You are right, if you don't do research about a particular thing you want to invest in, you may end up regretting. Thank you for reading.
Yes, I'm glad you did well.
Have a good day!
You too.
Sometimes we just have to trust our guts. I'm glad she followed her instincts and stuck to it

It's good to investigate very well before one invest on any business. Scammers are everywhere and ready to scam anyone
Your friend did not really do well. She should have thought about the risks involved if that investment has been made into that company.
