Spiritual Confusion in the Church: Who Will Speak Up
Happy new month to everyone. I pray that this new month comes with joy and gladness for us all.
Now, going straight to the point, I came with a lot of questions about the body of Christ, and I’m glad to find such a body here as well on Hive. This is my first time here in MCGI community.
I’m really concerned about what is happening in many churches today, especially in my country, Nigeria. We now see pastors turning against each other because of false teachings. This message is not to criticize anyone, but to share my concerns and also hear what others think about this growing trend.

Nigeria is just the example I’m using for this discussion. Seeing these things has made me pause and ask, why is the church going in this direction? It has honestly affected my passion for attending services regularly, and I know I’m not alone in feeling this.
Here Are Things I See as False Teachings
I am not here to criticize anyone but let everyone but take sometime to examine this
- Some time ago, a popular man of God said he saw himself drinking tea with God.
I attended a well-known Bible-teaching and holiness-focused church, where we were taught things of the Spirit. I know for sure that the God of Christians is a Spirit (John 4:24). So I honestly wonder how is it possible for a man of God to claim, God took part of his tea because he invited him.

To make things more confusing, this same man of God once joined a national protest against a former president in 2014. At that time, the economy was doing much better than it is now.
Today, with the current president who is his friend and even though things are more difficult, he has not spoken up for the people. Instead, he told his members to go on a 100-day dry fast, even though he has direct access to the president now.
I began to ask myself: Why tell people to fast for 100 days when you can talk to your friend, the president directly on behalf of the people? These are the kinds of actions that raise serious questions in my heart. And that’s why I’m speaking up to seek answers and also ask:
What can the church do to open the eyes of young people, so they don’t fall into the trap of following leaders who are more focused on themselves than on Christ? Because a lot of young people love the Lord and want to know abut him.

Another Example of a Misleading Statement Another popular man of God once said in his sermon that Jesus never visited any poor person. And he made this statement in front of a large group of young people many of whom believed him.
When I heard that, I honestly asked myself: If Jesus never visited poor people, would He have had the audience and following He had even during His time on earth? We all know that it’s maybe harder to preach to a rich person, especially if they feel better than you.
Also, the Bible clearly tells us that Jesus came for the poor, the brokenhearted, and the lost. He even said in 2 Corinthians 8:9 that He became poor so that through His poverty we might become rich not necessarily rich in material things, but rich in Christ.

These are just some of the things that concern me deeply , not to attack anyone, but to encourage us all to return to the truth of God’s Word and to stop blindly following teachings that don’t align with Scripture.
This situation has led me to start asking serious questions:
Is the body of Christ still united as one?
Let me point your attention to something , the Muslim religion. I’m not saying they are perfect, but no matter their differences, one thing they are known for is strong unity.
In Christianity, however, it’s a different case. For example, someone from the Deeper Life denomination may never attend a Jehovah’s Witness gathering because they believe Jehovah’s Witnesses are not serving the true God. And it’s the same with many other denominations , each one believes the others are wrong. There’s hardly any unity left in the body of Christ today. What we see instead is competition, not cooperation.
Recently, a well-known man of God started selling spiritual items. He sells things like:
• “The Lion of the Tribe of Judah”
• “Heavenly Keys”
• “Nightgowns for women”
• And other so-called “heavenly properties” all for money, and even sells them in dollars.
This deeply worries me, because while he does this openly, other church leaders remain silent. Why are they watching and saying nothing while someone tries to turn spiritual gifts into business items for personal gain?
I’m ending here with a burden in my heart. I had no other place to share it on Hive than here. My concern is that many people, especially the younger generation, are falling into these traps because they don’t have enough knowledge about the Kingdom of God. They follow blindly without understanding what’s truly of God and what isn’t.
Thank you for reading. God bless you all and have a great day.
