Giving Back to Humanity #197

Source

No one is 100% perfect, and we all need support from others. When I was young, I used to think the only kind of support was financial. But as I grew older, I realized that some people have money but lack peace and rest. This imbalance shows that everyone needs support in different forms, whether it’s advice, help, or giving.

Giving back is a practice I engage in consistently. It includes giving advice, financial assistance, or spiritual support. I am a product of support myself. Because of this, I understand the importance of supporting others, knowing that those you help will someday help someone else. In this post, I will explore how I support other women within my reach.

One way I support others is by giving advice. In my church, I meet single ladies and chat with them. Through these conversations, I get to know them better and understand their relationships. For example, I met a lady who was about to end her relationship with her boyfriend, whom she loved very much.

The issue started with a small argument about who should greet first. The lady said she often greeted her boyfriend first, but he never greeted her back. I thought, how can such a small thing cause a disagreement between people who love each other?

I told her that it was just a minor issue and not a reason to break up since that's the only problem she has been experiencing. No relationship is perfect; people are always working and rebuilding themselves to become better for each other.

I kept reminding her of this, and today, they are still together. I don't know who greets first now, but they are still in love and planning their marriage. I was very concerned about her not making the decision to separate from her boyfriend over something like greeting. This is one way I support her through advice.

Sometimes, I also provide financial help. In these tough times, some people don't even have enough to eat. Yesterday, my neighbor came to me with such a complaint. Her husband lost his job, and she is using her teaching salary to support her family. Although I didn't have much, I gave her some food and a bit of money. The happiness on her face brought me great satisfaction.

These are the ways I have supported people. I value support because I am a product of it. I remember my first pregnancy; it was difficult because I faced rejection from people I trusted and loved. But when I met others who had gone through the same experience, I started feeling more comfortable. You can't do without support from others unless you plan to be an island.

Secondly, let's be open with each other. Before, when I had issues, I didn't tell anyone, and it took me longer to resolve them. But when I started sharing with others, I received the support I needed to solve my problems more quickly.

Thank you for reading my entry of this week contest, Please stay safe. If you are a Nigerian. Bye

Yes, it's more than just financial need and often more deeply it is someone to stand by your side. ❤️

SO important to provide space for each other, to listen. It's just as important, if not more than financial advice. Thanks @faithgifty34 for your response x
