The Anatomy of Unfairness: Inside the Victim's Mind
Hello everyone I think you’ve felt one time in your life that things are not fair. Maybe someone got a bigger piece of cake than you or maybe you didnt got to play with your favorite toy because someone else was playing with it. Thats what I call unfair. It happens sometimes but it doesnt mean everything is wrong. Today I want to share something which mad me feel really unfair.
Feeling unfair is more sad when youre excited about something and then suddenly its taken away. But I think there is a lesson here too that shows us how to be kind and considerate towards others. And sometimes sharing or compromising for others can lead to even better friendships in the end. Im saying every case is like that but you can stay positive.
Once I had an amazing idea for a new sport type of game which we could play on our school playground. I told my friends about it and they thought it sounded awesome too. We decided to play it after school one day. But then just before we were about to start another group of senior kids showed up. They said they would play on the field too. But the field was not very large to occupy too many people. My friends and I looked at each other. We were wondering how we could share the field. In that moment I felt frustrated and upset. It seemed like a big big problem. We argued with them but failed miserably. Long story short we couldnt play that day. We felt really sad and that it was unfair.
When the unfair incident happened my initial reaction was shock. I couldnt believe that something so small could cause such a big fight. Then quickly anger took over me I felt mad at the situation. It wasnt fair and I felt like shouting out loud. But as the day went on those feelings turned into something much deeper. I felt sad not just for my friend but for myself too. I kept thinking about how unfair it all was. It made me feel helpless. I wanted to fix it but I didnt know how. It was frustrating.
Looking back I realize that the hardest part wasnt the unfair treatment itself but the aftermath. It made me question whether fairness was something that truly mattered.
After experiencing the unfair treatment I knew I needed to find ways to cope with my feelings. Here are some strategies I used
Talking to my friends helped a lot. They listened to me understood my feelings and offered different viewpoints.
Taking care of myself was important. Whether it was reading my favorite book drawing pictures or simply taking a walk outside these activities helped clear my mind and reduce stress.
I spent time reflecting on what had happened. I tried to understand why the other kids did what they did. This helped me see there might have been reasons behind it that I hadnt considered. |
These coping mechanisms proved to be quite effective. Talking to friends helped me reduce my emotions. Selfcare activities allowed me to relax. Reflecting on the situation gave me a clearer picture of the situation which helped me move forward. I also invite you to the conversation. Share your personal stories of unfair treatment in the comments below. How did you feel? What did you do to cope? Also if you found this post helpful and inspiring please follow my blog.
