Music as known is the combination of sounds pleasant to the hearing. Music is also a platform that facilitates communication, information dissemination, learning, income generation and for promotion of rich values, culture and heritage. Music and culture goes together even as music has helped to bring different cultures into the limelight and for a better appreciation of them. Infact, there is this genre of music called traditional music where music is done using traditional i.e. tribal, ethnicitical or dialectal means maybe through use of local languages, local music equipment, local traditional set-up etc.

Fashion as related to clothing or dressing is a major part of cultural display or heritage which music amplifies. For example, here in Africa, the fashion of the Yoruba's of the western part of Nigeria is quite different from those of the Asante people of Ghana and from the Zulu's of South Africa. Music production from each of these tribes will reflect how each of these tribes dressed with other cultural features such as language in view aswell. Aside clothes or apparel, other aspect of fashion featured in music may include tribal marks, haircut or hairdo etc.

Aside from the traditional music, even in the contemporaries, music has helped portrayed some professions and help in the public view of such. Take for example, in these modern era of learning, schools dedicate a special day to recognize and appreciate different professions in which the students are encouraged to dress in their desired profession apparel and backed this up with different songs suitable for such. Likewise, various music artistes are known for their preferred attire especially while performing which i believe should be suitable for the occasion either formally or informally. For example, the way hip-hop music artistes will dress will be quite different from those of afro-juju or rock & blues.

For some certain choral groups, there is an assigned apparel which helps in their easy identification, beautification and uniformity. Take for example, some professional choral groups do have awesome blends of colours for their dressing and makes them looks elegant and appealing. I believe, there is no hard and fast rule as regards music and fashion but modesty and unrestricting apparel is of utmost importance. Fashion can impact positively or negatively on music and music artiste as it can portray the music or the artiste to the public in an acceptable or condemnable way. For example, in a strong culturally driven society especially in Africa, there are some resentments or reservations on some music brands and artistes based on the kind of fashion been involved.

In all, music and fashion goes together and impacts on each other even as music enhances the projection of fashion even as music artistes maybe ambassadors for fashion brands or style whether locally or Internationally. Fashion also on the other hand impacts on music even as it is a point of attraction to a music artistes or a particular music genre on the long run.
