What came to my mind after seeing this prompt was the butterfly effect. Effect is like the consequences of an action, a result of something that was done or an action taken.

When asked, "what is the effect of something on another"? They are simply asking for the result of something on the other thing, as a result of them coming together.

In effect of the entire result.
It is simply taking effect but yet to finish.
I prefer addressing effect as consequence, it is much easier for me to express it.
