A back thought on hooking something is hanging something, maybe to the wall or on other objects. In other words, it connects two things together. When something is hooked, the are joined. I attended a wedding once and they described the couples with hook.

I just saw an informal meaning to hook It and it means to run away. I never thought or assumed hook it to mean run away but the opposite. Making use of it in a sentence would give the sentence to the ability to give the phrase meaning from the context.
