A Gem is literally a precious stone.
So when someone calls you a gem, they mean you are precious or valuable to them. A Gem can be priceless, and most sort for depending on the value placed on it.

I have noticed that apart from the usually valuable items, like gold, diamond etc. What might be valuable to someone might not be valuable to another, especially when it comes to relationships.

The things we might see as a gem might not be a gem to someone else, it might be the opposite and this mostly happens because we do not see the value of what the other person is seeing and therefore we do not place value on that particular thing.

Being a gem is not something you force, it is natural.
Seeing a gem does not require a special skill, you just have to take note of it's qualities.
Be attentive to the gems around you, so you would not miss out on the important things in life.
