The common saying about the forest in my locale is the evil forest.
In every story told, they mention it.
But I think their aim is to scare us.
I know forest can be dangerous, especially because there are wild things living in the forest.
But they say it as if another entity lives there.
Maybe witchcraft or a dark magic lives in the forest.
For this reason, nobody goes into the forest.
Those who have entered the forest in the past, did not come back to tell the story.
I guess the myth survived for so long because there are no witnesses to what really happened.
Along the line, few folks from generations to generations will find themselves in situations where they will go into the forest. It has always been the case.

Don't go into that forest!
