As we are coming to the end of December, the excitement of entering a new year seems to have begun to envelop us. I usually like to end the year with a good book or movie. Even though I haven't seen the last movie of the year yet, I read the last book of the year. Unfortunately, this book was a book full of drama that made my heart ache. Especially since it was a story taken from real life, I can say that it hurt even more.

My book is called The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
When I heard about this book written by John Boyne before, I thought it was a children's book, and now I think how ridiculous I thought. It's not for nothing they say:" "Never judge a book by its cover." Even though it is a metaphorical expression, even though it is not a book but human characteristics, I think this saying is actually valid for this book. It is a beautiful book with blue stripes on the outside.

I would like to talk a little bit about the subject of the book for those who have not read it.
The book is about the friendship between Bruno, the son of one of the important commanders in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp, and Schmuel, a Jewish-Polish boy who is a prisoner in the camp.

Bruno is a bit spoiled at the beginning of the book, a character who sometimes insists on getting what he wants. But after he meets Schmuel and gets close to him, he becomes a more mature boy.

Bruno's maturity was one of the things I liked in the book, his friend's appreciation of a meal that he did not like aroused different emotions in him. It was especially nice that his friend brought him food secretly from home every day because he was too thin.

As a child who was bored with his life, he envied Schmuel's clothes and the fact that there were so many people like him where he lived, which made him feel how lonely he was. But he had everything Schmuel didn't have: a family that was there for him, a warm rich house, food as delicious as possible.
But sometimes it's not material things that people are looking for, but spiritual things. That's why he shaved his head like Schmuel, put on the same type of striped pajamas and went to the camp he was so curious about.

Because of his age, he didn't understand anything and everything seemed like a game to him. But when he saw the hopelessness and helplessness of the people there, he wanted to leave, but unfortunately he could not escape because it was too late for something.

The end of the book may cause tears to flow, but it is definitely a work that you should read and feel.
I recently heard from a friend that there is a second book. But I don't know how connected it is, I will watch and see.

The book is a beautiful work that is never boring in terms of its narrative style, not being too long, satisfying in terms of descriptions that you can easily visualize in our minds, but not exaggerated.
Also, the fact that it is taken from real life, that thousands of children like Schmuel share the same fate, and that thousands of people go through the same fate makes it even more emotional.
If you are good with books, I recommend it, if not, it can be a perfect step for you to be good with books, I say give it a chance.

Aralık ayının sonlarına gelirken yeni bir yıla girme heyecanı sarmaya başladı gibi. Ben de genelde yılı kapatırken güzel bir kitap, filmle sonlandırmayı severim. Henüz yılın son filmini izlemesem bile son kitabını okudum. Ama bu kitap kalbimi ağrıtan, dram dolu bir kitaptı maalesef. Hele bir de gerçek hayattan alınan bir hikaye olduğu için daha da yaraladı diyebilirim.

Kitabımım ismi Çizgili Pijamalı Çocuk .
John Boyne tarafından yazılan bu kitabı daha önce duyduğumda onun bir çocuk kitabı olduğunu düşünmüştüm, şu an düşünüyorum da ne kadar saçma düşünmüşüm meğer. Boşuna dememişler :" Hiçbir kitabı kapağına göre yargılama." , her ne kadar mecazi bir söylem olsa da , deyimde geçen kitap değil de insani özellikler olsa da bu söz aslında bu kitap içinde geçerli bence. Dışı mavi çizgili güzel bir kitap.

Kitabın biraz da konusundan bahsetmek istiyorum okumayanlar için.
Kitap, Auschwitz Toplama Kampı'nda önemli komutanlardan birinin oğlu olan Bruno ile kampta esir bir Yahudi-Polonyalı- çocuğu olan Schmuel'in her şeyden bihaber tel örgülerin arasında başlayan arkadaşlığını konu alıyor.

Bruno kitabın başlarında biraz şımarık, istediği olması konusunda yer yer diretebilen bir karakter. Ama Schmuel ile tanışıp yakınlaştıktan sonra daha olgun bir çocuk haline geliyor. Bruno'nun olgunlaşması kitapta hoşuma giden yerlerden biri olmuştu, kendisinin beğenmediği bir yemeği arkadaşının minnet duyması onda farklı duygular uyandırmıştı. Hele arkadaşının fazla zayıf olmasından dolayı ona her gün evden gizlice yemek getirmesi çok hoştu.

Hayatından sıkılan bir çocuk olduğu için, Schmuel 'in kıyafetlerine, yaşadığı yerde onun gibi çok insan olmasına imrenmesi yüzünden aslında ne kadar yalnız olduğunu hissettirdi. Halbuki Schmuel 'in sahip olamadığı her şeye sahipti: yanında olan ailesi, sıcak zengin bir evi, olabildiğince lezzetli yiyecekler..
Ama insanın bazen aradığı maddiyat değil de maneviyat oluyor. İşte bu yüzden saçını Schmuel gibi kazıyıp aynı tip çizgili pijamalardan giyip çok merak ettiği kampa adım attı.

Yaşından dolayı hiçbir şeyi anlamadığı için her şey ona oyun gibi geliyordu. Ama oradaki insanların umutsuzluğunu, çaresizliğini gördüğünde oradan gitmek istese de artık bir şeyler için geç olduğundan kaçamadı maalesef.
Kitabın sonu gözyaşlarınızın akmasına neden olabilir, ama kesinlikle okumanız, hissetmeniz gereken bir eser.
Geçenlerde bir arkadaşımdan ikinci bir kitabı olduğunu duymuştum. Ama ne kadar birbiri ile bağlantılı bilemiyorum, izleyip göreceğim.

Kitap anlatış tarzı, çok uzun olmaması yönünden hiç sıkmayan, kolayca zihnimizde canlandırabildiğiniz betimleme yönünden doyurucu ama abartmayan güzel bir yapıt.
Bir de gerçek hayattan alınması, Schmuel gibi binlerce çocuğun aynı kaderi paylaşması, binlerce insanın yaşadıklarını düşününce daha da duygusu yüksek oluyor.
Eğer kitaplarla aranız iyiyse tavsiye ederim, değilse de aranızın iyi olması için mükemmel bir adım olabilir.
